The Yankees, StubHub feud reportedly appears to be over
They've been at odds since 2012, but a report says StubHub has become a partner with Yankees
The New York Yankees have been embroiled in a bit of a feud with secondary ticket seller StubHub since back in 2012. Major League Baseball has an affiliation with StubHub, but the Yankees have publicly complained either directly or subtly for years. This past spring, the Yankees decided to stop allowing print-at-home tickets in an act that seemed a direct blow to StubHub. The following day a Yankees exec made some rather thoughtless comments and it led to John Oliver coming up with a hilarious idea for the first week of the season.
Now, it would appear the feud is over.
The Yankees have sent a press release that says the following:
New York Yankees and StubHub officials will gather together to make a major announcement on Monday, June 27, at 11:30 AM ET, at Yankee Stadium, in the Press Conference Room (000 Level).
Yankees President Randy Levine and StubHub President Scott Cutler will address the media and be available for a Q&A following formal remarks.
We can probably do the math, and New York Daily News is reporting that the two parties have "agreed to a landmark deal that will make StubHub the official ticket re-seller for the organization."
So they apparently came to some sort of compromise that surely had a lot of green involved in the discussion. Feud over.
But we'll always have this:
