On Monday night in Fenway Park, Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was subjected to racist taunts during Baltimore's win over the Red Sox. Since Jones revealed what happened, the Red Sox issued an apology, and Boston outfielder Mookie Betts asked Sox fans to give Jones a standing ovation during Tuesday's game (BAL-BOS GameTracker).

So did the Boston fans in attendance oblige? Here's the run-up to Jones' first plate appearance of the night ...

As you can see and hear, that's an abundance of cheers and an abundance of standing cheers. Consider Mr. Betts' request satisfied.

Meantime, the Orioles' broadcast showed footage of Jones giving a baseball to a kid in Red Sox attire. That plus the warm reception given to Jones will perhaps help everyone put this ugly incident behind them. And one hopes that those who directed the slurs at Jones have learned to be better people going forward.
