Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo was denied a win Tuesday after giving up just one earned run on four hits and two walks in six innings and striking out five in his team's 4-2, 16-inning loss to the Nationals.

Gallardo surrendered a run in the top of the first on a groundout but kept a clean slate the rest of the way. The bullpen wasn't able to hang on to his lead after he left. Gallardo has given up one run or fewer in each of his last four starts, causing his ERA to sink to 3.23. He also owns a 77:30 K:BB ratio in 97 2/3 innings. Gallardo is on track to face the Rockies at home Sunday.
