Beckham's contract was purchased from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. The 32-year-old journeyman infielder hit .413/.483/.579 with five home runs in 33 games at Triple-A. Miguel Sano and Max Kepler each landed on the 10-day injured list, so Beckham was an emergency depth add for Minnesota.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Tim Beckham: Returns from 7-day IL
Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Beckham (quadriceps) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday. Beckham is ready to make his season debut with the Twins' top minor-league affiliate after he had been sidelined since late March with the left quad strain. The 32-year-old recently completed a two-game rehab assignment at Single-A Fort Myers, where he went 2-for-7 with a home run and two walks.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Tim Beckham: Begins rehab at Single-A
Beckham (quadriceps) began a rehab assignment Saturday at Single-A Fort Myers and has gone 2-for-7 with a home run and two walks through his first two games with the affiliate. The 2008 No. 1 overall pick is finally ready to play in games again after he was sidelined for approximately two months with the left quad strain he suffered late in spring training. Beckham was attending Twins camp as a non-roster invitee and will need to prove his health and perform effectively at the plate at Triple-A St. Paul for an extended period before getting a look in Minnesota. The 32-year-old last appeared in the majors in 2019 with the Mariners.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Tim Beckham: On IL with quad strain
Beckham will begin the season the 7-day IL at Triple-A St. Paul with a left quad strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Beckham was hurt late in spring training and apparently won't be able to play as the Triple-A season begins. He'll likely spend most of the season at Triple-A unless Minnesota needs depth at utility infielder.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Tim Beckham: Sent to minor-league camp
The Twins reassigned Beckham (undisclosed) to minor-league camp Thursday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Beckham hadn't seen any action in Grapefruit League play since Saturday, when he exited a game against Atlanta with an unspecified injury. Even before getting hurt, Beckham was facing an uphill battle to make the Twins' Opening Day roster as a non-roster invitee at big-league camp. Beckham's demotion makes it more likely that Nick Gordon will break camp with the Twins as a utility player.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Tim Beckham: Exits with apparent injury
Beckham was removed from Saturday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta due to an apparent injury, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Beckham singled in the top of the eighth inning Saturday but was removed from the game after reaching first base. The nature and severity of the injury aren't yet clear.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Tim Beckham: Signs minors deal with Minnesota
Beckham signed a minor-league deal with Minnesota on Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Beckham has spent parts of six seasons in the majors, hitting .249/.302/.431. He looked good last year in 45 games for Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox's system, slashing .279/.330/.545, but he was unable to earn a promotion.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Tim Beckham: Struggling at Triple-A
Beckham is slashing .167/.222/.286 with a 26.7 percent strikeout rate over 45 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte this season. Beckham missed much of spring training due to an oblique strain, but he returned to full health ahead of the minor-league season. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 first-year player draft hasn't made a compelling case for a promotion to the White Sox, and it wouldn't be surprising if the Triple-A club eventually began phasing the 31-year-old out in favor of evaluating younger options in the field.... White Sox's Tim Beckham: Recovering from mild oblique strain
Beckham has been recovering from a mild oblique strain to begin spring training, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Although Beckham has been slowed by his injury over the first few weeks of camp, he was on the field for workouts Saturday. As long as he doesn't experience any setbacks, the 31-year-old is expected to be fully ready to play within a few weeks.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Tim Beckham: Gets minors deal with White Sox
Beckham signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The 2008 first overall pick will make $1.35 million if he earns a big-league roster spot. Beckham failed to land with a team in 2020 but recorded a respectable .237/.293/.461 slash line in 88 games for the Mariners in 2019, good for a 99 wRC+. That season ended with him getting hit with an 80-game suspension for a failed PED test, however.... See More ... See Less -
Tim Beckham: Not bound for San Diego after all
Updating a previous report, Beckham (suspension) hasn't agreed to a contract with the Padres and remains a free agent, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Heyman mistakenly relayed earlier Wednesday that Beckham reached a minor-league deal with the Padres, but he meant to report that Gordon Beckham had signed with San Diego. Tim Beckham -- who still has 32 games to serve on the 80-game suspension he received last August -- continues to talk with a number of clubs and is hopeful to find work at some point this spring.... Padres' Tim Beckham: Gets MiLB deal from San Diego
Beckham (suspension) agreed to a minor-league contract with the Padres on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Beckham will presumably join the Padres' big club for spring training, but since he'll have to serve 32 more games on the 80-game suspension he received last August, he's not a candidate to make San Diego's Opening Day roster. That being said, the 30-year-old's ability to provide moderate power at multiple infield spots should help his case for getting a look with the big-league squad at some point in 2020, especially if Jurickson Profar can't meet expectations as the Padres' everyday second baseman. Beckham slashed .237/.293/.461 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI in 88 games with the Mariners in 2019 before being slapped with the ban for violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.... Tim Beckham: Heads to free agency
Beckham (suspension) wasn't tendered a contract by the Mariners on Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Beckham was slapped with an 80-game suspension in August after violating MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. He'll be required to sit out for the first 32 games of the 2020 campaign, which may scare away some clubs.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Handed 80-game ban
Beckham received an 80-game suspension Tuesday for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. Beckham's suspension stems from a recent positive test for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance. Barring an appeal, Beckham will miss the Mariners' final 48 games of 2019. Beckham will then have to serve the remaining 32 games of his suspension at the beginning of the 2020 campaign, a development that could prompt the Mariners to non-tender him over the winter. He'll wrap up the current season with a .237/.293/.461 slash line, 15 home runs and 47 RBI across 328 plate appearances. The Mariners will likely activate Dee Gordon (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list later Tuesday to fill Beckham's spot on the active roster and in the everyday lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Heads to bench Saturday
Beckham is out of the lineup Saturday against the Astros, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Ryan Court will start in left field and hit eighth against righty Aaron Sanchez. Beckham is 5-for-18 with four runs scored, three RBI and three walks in his last five starts. The right-handed-hitting utility man is slashing just .222/.281/.473 against righties.... See More ... Mariners' Tim Beckham: Hitless in return to action
Beckham went 0-for-4 and struck out twice in Friday's 10-2 loss to the Astros. Beckham was pulled from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers with oblique tightness but played all nine innings in left field Friday. The lack of offense was a team-wide problem -- the Mariners managed only three hits versus Astros starter Wade Miley.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Good to go Friday
Beckham is starting in left field and batting sixth Friday at Houston, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. Beckham was pulled from Wednesday's contest with oblique tightness but he won't miss any additional time after taking Thursday's scheduled off day to rest up. The 29-year-old is slashing .313/.387/.582 with four home runs in his last 20 games.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Leaves with oblique issue
Beckham was removed from Wednesday's game at Texas with oblique tightness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Beckham appeared to suffer the injury making a throw from the outfield, but the Mariners said his exit was precautionary. The 29-year-old will have Thursday's scheduled off day to recover before potentially missing any additional time.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Keeps knocking cover off ball
Beckham went 3-for-4 with an RBI double, another two-bagger, a walk and two runs in a win over the Tigers on Saturday. Beckham stepped up with his fourth and fifth extra-base hit of the last six contests, as he'd also belted another pair of doubles and a grand slam during this past week. The veteran has seemingly gotten into a good rhythm at the plate while starting eight consecutive games, as he's hit .333 (10-for-30) over that span.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Tim Beckham: Blasts grand slam Thursday
Beckham went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Seattle's 10-2 win over Detroit on Thursday. Beckham helped key a big day for the Mariners' lineup in the third inning, cranking a grand slam off Drew VerHagen. The veteran shortstop has provided decent power this season, with 15 homers and a respectable .470 slugging percentage, but he's still hitting just .235 with a meager .288 on-base percentage over 301 plate appearances....
