Royals' Salvador Perez: Inks two-year extension
Perez signed a two-year, $25 million contract extension with the Royals on Tuesday.
Perez had a $13.5 million team option for 2026, but his new deal will slightly decrease his AAV while ensuring the veteran backstop remains in Kansas City through 2027. Perez's .236 batting average from 2025 was the second-lowest mark of his 15-year MLB career, but he also finished the season with 30 homers for the first time since 2021 and 100 RBI for the third time in five years.

Royals' Salvador Perez: Reaches 100-RBI mark
Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run double in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Angels.
Perez's bases-clearing double in the ninth inning gave the Royals some extra breathing room. The knock was enough to give him 100 RBI on the year, a mark he's reached in three of the last five seasons. The catcher has plated nearly one-fifth of his total over his last 11 games, supplying 19 RBI in that span. He's one of 14 players to reach 100 RBI this season through Thursday's action. Perez has added a .241/.286/.454 slash line, 30 home runs, 54 runs scored and 35 doubles across 152 contests.

Royals' Salvador Perez: Socks 29th homer
Perez went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and two walks in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Mariners.
Perez is now up to 29 long balls and 92 RBI this year, putting him on the precipice of his first 30-homer campaign since 2021 and the second of his career. The veteran backstop has six big flies in September and four in his past four games. Over his last 57 at-bats, Perez is batting just .211 but is slugging .561 with 15 RBI as he also pushes for the third 100-RBI season of his career.
