  • Trevor Bauer: Set to face Dodgers

Bauer will pitch for the Asian Breeze against the Dodgers on Sunday, Jack Harris and Bill Shakin of the Los Angeles Times report. The Breeze is an independent team that has the purpose of getting lesser-known players in front of MLB scouts. Bauer has made his desire to return to the majors well known, but he has yet to gain much traction in finding a new opportunity. He's currently unsigned for the 2024 season after pitching with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball in 2023.

  • Trevor Bauer: Signing with Japanese team

Bauer agreed Monday with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball on a one-year, $4 million contract, Yuki Yamada Sankei Sports reports. Bauer was released by the Dodgers in early January after he was made eligible for reinstatement following a reduction of his domestic violence suspension. He's now headed overseas to continue his baseball career after presumably not receiving any interest from major-league clubs. The 32-year-old may explore his options stateside following the 2023 season, but it's possible his MLB playing days are over.

  • Trevor Bauer: Cut loose by Dodgers

The Dodgers designated Bauer for assignment Friday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. They will pay the remaining $22.5 million on his contract and he will become a free agent. The team could not find a trade partner leading up to this transaction, so the seven-day period to find a trade partner will just be a formality before he becomes a free agent and can sign with any other team for $720,000. Bauer last pitched June 28, 2021.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Suspension reduced, gets reinstated

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Bauer's 324-game suspension was reduced to 194 games by an arbitrator, making him eligible for immediate reinstatement, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Bauer was handed the suspension on April 29, and though he proceeded to sit out the entire 2022 season, he opened a grievance against MLB in an effort to have the ban reduced. After a seven-month grievance process, a neutral arbitrator ruled in favor of Bauer, who will be given credit for the time he had already spent on the Dodgers' restricted list dating back to the 2021 season. Bauer will still have his salary docked through the Dodgers' first 50 games of the upcoming season, but with his suspension determined to have been completed, he's now eligible to pitch effective immediately. The Dodgers will have until Jan. 6 to decide if they will reinstate Bauer to their 40-man roster, but it's currently unclear if the organization intends to keep him in its plans.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Opens grievance hearing against MLB

Bauer will begin his grievance hearing Monday against MLB as he seeks an overturn or reduction of the 324-game suspension he received April 29 for violating the league's domestic violence policy, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. As Gonzalez notes, Bauer is the first among the 16 players who have received suspensions under MLB's current domestic violence policy to challenge his banishment, which is twice as long as any punishment previously levied since the league and the MLB Players' Association launched their joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy in August 2015. Bauer, whose last MLB appearance came June 28, 2021 before the Dodgers placed him on the restricted list, is no longer facing criminal charges in connection with the sexual assault allegations that were first made against him last summer. The grievance hearing could last for several weeks until panel chair Martin Scheinman makes a ruling on the matter, so clarity on the 31-year-old's situation may not come for a while. Even if the ban is completely overturned, the Dodgers may choose not to activate Bauer.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Suspended for two years

Bauer was handed a two-year suspension Friday for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Bauer had been on administrative leave since the midpoint of last season while the league investigated sexual assault allegations against him. The suspension was issued effective from Friday and doesn't include his time served while on leave, so he'll be off the field until early in the 2024 season. Bauer will appeal his punishment, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, so the final word on when he'll be eligible to return is still not quite clear.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Personal leave extended

Bauer will remain on administrative leave through April 22 in a joint agreement by MLB and the MLBPA, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Bauer has been on administrative leave since last July and remains without a clear timeline for rejoining the Dodgers. The 31-year-old is no longer facing charges related to the assault allegations levied against him last year, but he could still face a suspension from the league once his administrative leave ends.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Administrative leave extended

Bauer's administrative leave has been extended through April 16, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. Bauer missed the second half of the 2021 campaign on administrative leave while the league investigated sexual assault allegations against him, and he'll remain on administrative leave to begin the regular season in 2022. The right-hander won't face criminal charges but could still face a suspension from the league. It's not yet clear when he'll return to game action.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Back on leave as expected

Bauer was officially placed back on administrative leave as expected Friday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. Administrative leave is where Bauer spent the back half of last season while the league investigated sexual assault allegations against him. That investigation remains ongoing despite the fact the righty won't face criminal charges, as it's independent of the legal process. For now, Bauer is prevented from reporting to camp through March 19, but administrative leave is typically prolonged in one-week increments, so that doesn't indicate that he'll be free to return on that date.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Expected to be placed on leave

Bauer (personal) is expected to be placed on administrative leave for at least a week to begin spring training, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. The Dodgers indicated Friday that they're unsure of Bauer's status to begin the season, so it's not entirely surprising that the league is slated to place him on administrative leave while continuing its investigation into the allegations against him. The right-hander won't face criminal charges, but MLB has issued suspensions for offenses that don't result in criminal charges in the past.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Remains in limbo

Bauer's ability to attend Dodgers camp remains in limbo as MLB continues its investigation into sexual assault allegations against him, with manager Dave Roberts saying merely that he didn't want to "close the door completely" on the righty, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Bauer spent the second half of last season on administrative leave while the league investigated the allegations. While he won't be facing criminal charges, that doesn't have a direct bearing on MLB's investigation and the league could still come to its own conclusion regarding any potential punishment. Even the Dodgers themselves don't seem to have a clear idea whether to expect Bauer to miss all, some or none of the upcoming season.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Will not face criminal charges

Bauer will not face criminal charges for the sexual assault allegations against him, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reports. Bauer spent the second half of last season on administrative leave while the league investigated the incident. While the lack of criminal charges may be used in MLB's decision regarding any further discipline, the league can still come to its own conclusion regardless of the court's decision.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Exercises 2022 option

Bauer will exercise his $32 million player option with the Dodgers for the 2022 season, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Bauer spent the final three months of the 2021 campaign on administrative leave while the league investigated the sexual assault allegations against him, so it's hardly a surprise he's exercising his player option rather than returning to the open market. The 30-year-old pitched in 17 games before being placed on leave and had a 2.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 137:37 K:BB across 107.2 innings, and the results of the investigation figure to dictate his availability for the start of the 2022 season.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Officially out for season

Bauer's administrative leave was officially extended through the end of the postseason as expected Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Bauer hasn't pitched since June while the league investigates sexual assault allegations against him. His leave has been extended multiple times in week-long increments, but the league and union acknowledged that the investigation would last through the end of the season and elected to simplify things by extending it through the end of the year.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Likely done for season

Bauer's administrative leave is expected to extend through the remainder of the regular season and postseason, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Unsurprisingly, Bauer will not pitch again in 2021 as the investigation of sexual assault allegations against him continues. More news on the investigation and Bauer's status for next season should become clear in the coming months.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Leave extended for eighth time

Bauer's administrative leave was extended through Sept. 10 on Friday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. The ongoing investigation of sexual assault allegations against Bauer will keep him out at least through next Friday, although his leave will almost certainly be extended once again. Having not pitched since the end of June, Bauer is highly unlikely to wear a Dodgers' uniform again this regular season.

  • Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Leave extended yet again

Bauer's administrative leave was extended Friday through Sept. 3, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Bauer has been out since early July while the league investigates sexual assault allegations against him. His leave has now been extended seven times, and the league is allowed to keep issuing extensions as long as the investigation continues, so there's little reason to expect him back when his current leave ends.
