  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Hitting bench for series finale

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Garrett Stubbs will draw the start behind the plate while Realmuto receives a breather for the day game after catching all nine innings of Tuesday's 3-0 win. Since being activated from the injured list Saturday, Realmuto has gone 2-for-9 with three walks and a run over his three starts.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Getting rest Sunday

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

After going 1-for-3 with a walk while logging eight innings behind the plate in Saturday's 4-1 loss in his return from the 10-day injured list, Realmuto will get some maintenance in the series finale in Pittsburgh. Garrett Stubbs will receive the start at catcher Sunday, but Realmuto should see the overwhelming share of work now that he's recovered from right knee surgery, which kept him on the shelf for nearly a month and a half.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Activated from IL

The Phillies reinstated Realmuto (knee) from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Realmuto has been on the injured list since June 11 after undergoing right meniscus surgery. Manager Rob Thomson said before the All-Star break that it was unlikely the 33-year-old backstop would return during the weekend series, but Realmuto's progressed through his recovery faster than expected and will be active for Saturday's game versus Pittsburgh. Rafael Marchan will head back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move, and Realmuto will reclaim his spot as Philadelphia's everyday catcher after slashing .261/.309/.411 during the first half.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Could return this weekend

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Realmuto (knee) is "very close" and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Thomson had said just before the All-Star break that it was unlikely Realmuto would return this weekend for a series against the Pirates, but evidently the catcher is progressing more quickly than expected. Realmuto had right meniscus surgery in mid-June, and he's been upping his workouts lately without issue. It would appear he will not need a rehab assignment before being activated.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Unlikely for Pittsburgh series

Manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that Realmuto (knee) likely won't be activated from the 10-day injured list when the Phillies open their second-half schedule Friday in Pittsburgh, MLB.com reports.

Realmuto is reportedly progressing well in his recovery from the meniscectomy he underwent June 12, but his return date looks to have been pushed back a few days after poor weather in Philadelphia this past weekend prevented him from getting in his scheduled on-field work. The veteran backstop should continue to take part in baseball activities on his own during the All-Star break this coming week, but the Phillies will likely want to monitor him in a few more workouts before reinstating him from the IL. A return to action in the week of July 22 still looks to be in the cards for Realmuto.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Return before break not ruled out

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Realmuto (knee) is working out at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Realmuto is three weeks removed from right meniscus surgery and is progressing nicely. The club is not ruling out a return for their starting catcher prior to the All-Star break if he proves to be ready by then, but it's probably more likely that Realmuto is held out until the start of the second half.
