Mazara signed a minor-league contract Friday with the Nationals. Mazara was in camp with the Orioles this spring before getting cut loose March 27. He has picked a good landing spot in Washington and has a solid chance of getting back to a semi-regular role at the MLB level. The 27-year-old outfielder will report to Triple-A Rochester for now.... See More ... See Less

Nomar Mazara: Released by Baltimore
Mazara was released by the Orioles on Monday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports. Mazara wasn't going to make the Opening Day roster and exercised his opt-out. The 27-year-old hasn't hit much this spring or at the major-league level for a few years now, so he'll probably have to settle for a minor-league contract wherever he winds up.... See More ... Orioles' Nomar Mazara: Joining Orioles' camp
Mazara signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Mazara is still just 27 years old and should theoretically be at his peak, but it's been several seasons since he's held down a regular role. He appeared in 55 games for the Padres last season, hitting a modest .264/.316/.352 with two home runs. Mazara's career 89 wRC+ simply isn't good enough for him to be a starting corner outfielder, but it's just passable enough that he could continue to bounce around in a bench role. The Orioles would represent his fifth team in five seasons if he manages to make an appearance.... See More ... See Less -
Nomar Mazara: Becomes free agent
The Padres released Mazara on Tuesday. Mazara cleared waivers after the Padres designated him for assignment over the weekend, but rather than sticking around in the organization at Triple-A El Paso, he'll seek out opportunities elsewhere. Prior to losing his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster, Mazara saw action in 55 games for the Friars and slashed .264/.316/.352 with two home runs and 18 RBI across 171 plate appearances.... Padres' Nomar Mazara: Loses 40-man spot
Mazara was designated for assignment by the Padres on Saturday. After losing his spot as a regular starter in the outfield and going hitless in just six plate appearances since Aug. 3, Mazara has now lost his spot on the 40-man and 26-man rosters. Mazara has a batting average of .264 on the season and his highest OPS since 2019 (.668), so it is possible that he gets claimed off waivers by another team.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Nomar Mazara: Sitting against lefty
Mazara is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Tigers. Mazara will get a breather as the Padres take on left-hander Tarik Skubal and the Tigers on Wednesday. Esteury Ruiz will take over in right field and bat eighth in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -

Padres' Nomar Mazara: Sits versus lefty again
Mazara is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. Padres' Nomar Mazara: Sits against southpaw
Mazara isn't starting Saturday's game against San Francisco. Padres' Nomar Mazara: Takes seat against southpaw

Padres' Nomar Mazara: On bench versus lefty
Mazara is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. The Dodgers are bringing a lefty (Clayton Kershaw) to the hill for the second time in as many days, so the lefty-hitting Mazara once again finds himself on the bench once again. The righty-hitting Jose Azocar will replace Mazara in right field, and the two should continue to form a platoon at the position until Wil Myers (knee) is ready to return from the 10-day injured list.... Padres' Nomar Mazara: Takes seat against left-hander
Mazara isn't starting Saturday against the Dodgers. Mazara went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Diamondbacks. Mazara went deep in the fifth inning off Arizona starter Zac Gallen. This was Mazara's third straight game with a hit, and he's gone 3-for-9 in that span. The outfielder is up to a .299/.356/.448 slash line with two homers, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and four doubles across 73 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Nomar Mazara: Remains on bench Thursday
Mazara isn't in the lineup Thursday against the Phillies. Mazara went 3-for-16 with a double, a run, an RBI and five strikeouts over his last four games and will be on the bench for a second consecutive matchup. Jose Azocar is starting in right field and batting seventh.... See More ... See Less -

Mazara isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Mazara will get a day off after he started in the last four games and went 3-for-16 with a double, a run, an RBI and five strikeouts. Jose Azocar is taking over in right field and batting eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Nomar Mazara: Riding pine Friday
Mazara isn't starting Friday's game against the Rockies. Mazara started in the last three games and went 5-for-13 with a homer, a double, seven RBI and four runs during that time. He'll get a breather while Jose Azocar starts in right field and bats eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Nomar Mazara: Records two extra-base hits in win
Mazara went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double and a walk in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Cubs. Mazara had a knack for producing runs during the Padres' series at Wrigley Field, and he capped off the series by blasting his first home run of the season during Thursday's narrow victory. The 27-year-old started in the last three games and went 5-for-13 with a homer, a double, seven runs and four runs during that time.
