  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Knocks in two in win

Naylor went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 3-2 extra-innings win over the Cubs. Naylor delivered the Diamondbacks' first run in the third inning, then knocked in the winning run in the 11th. This was the ninth multi-hit effort in 22 games played for Naylor, who is batting .333/.406/.954 with 10 extra-base hits, 15 RBI, four steals and 14 runs scored.

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Marlins. Naylor went deep for a third straight game and is up to four homers through 19 contests this season. He's hit safely in nine of the last 10 games, batting .368 with seven extra-base hits, 10 RBI and seven runs scored during that stretch.

Naylor went 1-for-3 with one walk, a solo homer and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Marlins. Naylor got the Diamondbacks on the board in the second inning, when he took Max Meyer deep to center field for a 398-foot solo homer. Naylor has logged solo home runs in back-to-back games and has three long shots and six RBI over his last six outings.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Nabs fourth steal in win

Naylor went 2-for-5 with a steal, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Brewers. The Diamondbacks' slugger stole second base off reliever Grant Anderson in the seventh inning. Naylor has never been known for his speed, but thanks to a torrid start, he seems like a lock to overtake his previous career high of 10 steals with the Guardians in 2023. The 27-year-old has been enjoying his new home in Arizona, opening with a .322/.397/.475 slash line across 68 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Three hits, homer in win

Naylor went 3-for-4 with a home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Orioles. Naylor opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning before extending the lead to 5-0 with a homer off Dean Kremer in the fifth. While the home run was Naylor's first this season, he's gotten off to a nice start with Arizona, going 16-for-47 (.340) with a .929 OPS, nine RBI and three stolen bases through 13 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Hits in three straight

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs. Naylor hit safely for a third straight game to begin the regular season, but his most memorable play Saturday was getting thrown out at third base for the final out of the fourth inning. He'd doubled to lead off the bottom of the frame and got thrown out by Pete Crow-Armstrong, as he tried to tag up and advance to third later in the inning. Naylor also singled in the ninth and scored on Eugenio Suarez's home run.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Hit streak at eight games

Naylor went 1-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's split-squad game against the Athletics. After going hitless in his Cactus League debut, Naylor has hit in eight consecutive games and is 11-for-24 (.458) with four doubles and three RBI on the spring. He may not be able to replicate the defense of three-time Gold Glove winner Christian Walker, Arizona's starting first baseman in 2024, but Naylor's bat is expected to replace the production lost when Walker signed with Houston this offseason.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Settles at $10.9 million

Naylor agreed to a one-year, $10.9 million contract with the Diamondbacks on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Naylor slashed .243/.320/.456 with 31 home runs and 108 RBI with the Guardians last season -- good enough to secure a $4.3 million salary increase entering his first year in Arizona. With Christian Walker now in Houston, Naylor is expected to handle most of the workload at first base.

  • Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Headed to Arizona

Naylor was traded from the Guardians to the Diamondbacks on Saturday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi and a competitive balance Round B draft pick, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Arizona needed a first baseman after Christian Walker signed with Houston on Friday, and Naylor should be slated to fill an everyday role for his new team. The 27-year-old tallied career-best marks with 31 home runs, 108 RBI and 84 runs over 632 plate appearances during the 2024 regular season while slashing .243/.320/.456 over 632 plate appearances. Naylor's batting average was a big drop-off from 2023, when he hit .308, but he finished as one of 14 big leaguers with 30-plus homers and 100-plus RBI. Naylor is in his final season of team control and can be a free agent at the end of the 2025 campaign.

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and an additional run in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win against the Twins. Naylor got to Minnesota starter Bailey Ober twice, touching up the right-hander for solo shots in the second and seventh frames. The power display ended a 13-game homerless drought for the first baseman and marked his third multi-homer performance of the campaign. • Guardians' Josh Naylor: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Naylor (back) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Kansas City. Naylor had to be lifted from Tuesday's game with an acute back spasm and is considered day-to-day. With a team off day Thursday, he will hope to be back in there for Friday's series opener against the Dodgers. Kyle Manzardo will man first base Wednesday versus the Royals.

  • Guardians' Josh Naylor: Exits with acute back spasm

Naylor left Tuesday's game versus the Royals with an acute back spasm, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Naylor went 1-for-4 but exited in the eighth inning, with Jhonkensy Noel replacing him as a pinch runner and staying in the game at first base. Noel could see time at first base if Naylor is unable to play in Wednesday's series finale. Naylor has mostly avoided injuries this year, missing time with general soreness in late July.

  • Guardians' Josh Naylor: Homers, swipes bag in win

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run homer and a stolen base in Monday's 4-2 win over the Royals. Naylor took reliever Kris Bubic deep in the sixth inning for his 29th home run of the season. Naylor reached 100 RBI for the first time in his career with the long ball. The 27-year-old now joins Aaron Judge and teammate Jose Ramirez as the only three players this season to eclipse the century mark. Naylor has multi-hit efforts in four of his last five games following a 10-game stretch during which he went 2-for-35.

  • Guardians' Josh Naylor: In Saturday's lineup as DH

Naylor (ankle) will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against the Pirates on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. A bruised left ankle forced Naylor from Friday's game, but apparently he'll be able to tough it out with the help of the DH tag. He was in the midst of a brutally cold stretch in mid-to-late August, but Naylor has turned it on recently with six hits in his last two games.

  • Guardians' Josh Naylor: Suffers bruised ankle Friday

Naylor was removed from Friday's game against the Pirates with a left ankle bruise, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Naylor seemed to roll his ankle as he hit an RBI single into right field during the eighth inning, causing Tyler Freeman to replace him as a pinch runner. He was diagnosed with an ankle contusion shortly after the game, so he appears to have avoided a serious injury. It's unclear if he'll be available for Saturday's contest.

Naylor went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Royals. Naylor plated a run in the first inning on a fielder's choice before adding an RBI single in the seventh as part of a four-run frame. This was his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 12 -- over 14 games in between, he hit a paltry .100 with two home runs and five RBI. The first baseman is at a .237/.319/.460 slash line with 28 homers, 94 RBI, 72 runs scored, 20 doubles and five stolen bases over 126 contests this season.

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, one walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 13-5 win over the Rangers. Naylor entered Saturday stuck in an 0-for-18 slump. He extended it with a groundout in the first inning that generated a run, and then he finally put it to rest with a sixth-inning homer. The first baseman is batting .222 (18-for-81) over 22 contests in August, though he's helped offset his struggles in the average department by drawing 11 walks and driving in 17 runs in that span. For the year, Naylor has 28 homers, 91 RBI, 71 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .238/.319/.469 slash line through 121 games.
