  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Outrighted to Triple-A

Plummer cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Plummer was designated for assignment Tuesday but will remain in the organization. Over 58 games at Triple-A Syracuse, he's slashed .231/.317/.370 with seven home runs, 39 RBI, 27 runs and six stolen bases.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Booted off 40-man roster

The Mets designated Plummer for assignment Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Plummer made waves for the Mets in late May after slugging home runs in back-to-back games, but he went hitless in 20 at-bats over his subsequent nine contests before being optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. The 26-year-old hadn't shown much improvement since his demotion, and he'll now be cast off the 40-man roster after producing a modest .687 OPS while striking out at a 29.3 percent clip across 246 plate appearances at Syracuse.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Bound for minors

The Mets optioned Plummer to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. With Mark Canha, Starling Marte and Brandon Nimmo typically composing the Mets' starting outfield in most games and Jeff McNeil also occasionally getting playing time in the corner outfield, Plummer cracked the lineup just once over the past nine games. The Mets still want to make the 25-year-old's development a priority, so his demotion to Syracuse will give him the chance to play on a regular basis. Veteran Ender Inciarte was called up from Triple-A to replace Plummer as the Mets' fourth outfielder.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Strikes out three times

Plummer struck out in all three of his at-bats Sunday in the Mets' 6-2 loss to the Marlins. The rookie raised some eyebrows at the end of May when he slugged home runs on back-to-back days while driving in five runs, but his opportunities and production have been limited ever since. His start Sunday was only his sixth of June, and Plummer hasn't helped his case for earning more at-bats by going 0-for-20 with nine strikeouts so far this month.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Huge day Monday

Plummer went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Monday's 13-5 win over the Nationals. Making his second career start in the majors, Plummer homered for the second straight game. He's also struck out three times in eight at-bats during those games, so he may not quite be the second coming of Darryl Strawberry, but the 25-year-old is taking full advantage of an opportunity in the Mets' outfield created by injuries to Brandon Nimmo (wrist) and Travis Jankowski (hand).

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Called up from Triple-A

Plummer was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Plummer had a brief stint with the major-league club in mid-April, and he went 0-for-1 over two games. However, the 25-year-old will provide outfield depth for the Mets after Travis Jankowski (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list. Plummer has appeared in 24 games in Syracuse this year and has hit .250 with six homers, five doubles, 21 RBI, 12 runs and two stolen bases.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Returns to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Plummer to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. He'll be swapped off the 28-man active roster for outfielder Brandon Nimmo, who was activated from the COVID-19 injured list after clearing MLB's testing protocols shortly before the start of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Giants. During his three-game stay with the big club, Plummer logged just one plate appearance.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Called up by Mets

Plummer was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Plummer will provide outfield depth for the Mets while Mark Canha (illness) and Brandon Nimmo (illness) are on the COVID-19 injured list. The 25-year-old Plummer hasn't yet made his major-league debut.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Sent to minor-league camp

Plummer was optioned to minor-league spring training Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Plummer signed a major-league contract with the Mets in November, but he failed to win a spot on the Opening Day roster. He slashed .267/.455/.440 with two homers, 19 runs, eight RBI and four stolen bases across 27 appearances at Triple-A Memphis last year, and he's in line to begin the 2022 campaign at the Triple-A level.

  • Mets' Nick Plummer: Inks big-league deal with Mets

Plummer signed a one-year contract with the Mets on Wednesday. Plummer elected minor-league free agency in early November and will land a big-league contract ahead of the 2022 campaign. The 25-year-old hasn't yet made his major-league debut but should compete for a depth role with the Mets during spring training. He was one of the top minor-league free agents on the open market after he slashed .280/.415/.479 with 20 doubles, six triples, 15 homers, 54 RBI, 71 runs and 13 stolen bases in 117 combined games between Triple-A Memphis and Double-A Springfield.

  • Cardinals' Nick Plummer: Promoted to Triple-A

The Cardinals promoted Plummer from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. St. Louis determined Plummer was ready for a tougher test after he smacked two home runs Sunday in his final game at Double-A, bringing his slash line up to .283/.404/.489 across 376 plate appearances with Springfield on the season. The 25-year-old outfielder boasts an intriguing combination of power and on-base skills, but his ability to cut down his strikeout rate (28.7 percent at Double-A) will be essentially to him finding consistent success at Triple-A, and eventually, the majors.
