He will report to Double-A Portland. Juan, 26, was released by Atlanta in May after struggling with his control (11:6 K:BB in six innings) in the minors.

Juan pitched well with the High-A affiliate of the Athletics in early 2023 but stumbled to a 5.66 ERA across 35 innings following his May promotion to Double-A Midland. The 24-year-old right-hander holds a career 4.53 ERA and 217:123 K:BB in 173 professional innings.

Juan (elbow) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 22 and has struck out eight over four scoreless innings between his first two outings with the affiliate.
Juan was removed from the Athletics' 40-man roster in May and later released, only to re-sign with the organization on a minor-league deal. He was then placed on Single-A Stockton's injured list while he continued to recover from a right elbow strain, but he finally looks to be close to being activated.

Juan was released by Oakland on Sunday after being designated for assignment, but he'll return to the organization on a minor-league deal. He missed the start of the regular season with an undisclosed injury but split time between Single-A Stockton and High-A Lansing last year.
