Athletics' Carlos Duran: Joins new organization
The Athletics acquired Duran from the Dodgers on Wednesday in exchange for outfielder Esteury Ruiz.
Duran spent time at three levels in the minors in 2024, accruing a 3.71 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 73:32 K:BB In 53.1 innings spanning 19 starts. The Dodgers have ample depth in the rotation and weren't likely to have a spot available for Duran anytime soon, but the move to the Athletics should enhance his chances of reaching the majors down the road. The 23-year-old right-hander will likely slot into the rotation with the Athletics' Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas.

Dodgers' Carlos Duran: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Duran was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Sunday.
Duran will head to minor-league camp after appearing in two games with the Dodgers this spring, surrendering one run on two hits while striking out two batters over two innings. The right-hander spent the majority of the 2024 campaign with Double-A Tulsa, producing a 3.02 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 41.2 innings in 12 starts. It's unclear if Duran will begin the year with Double-A Tulsa or Triple-A Oklahoma, but either way, he'll look to impress in order to potentially get a shot at making his major-league debut in 2025.

Dodgers' Carlos Duran: Falters at Triple-A
Triple-A Oklahoma City transferred Duran to the development list Sept. 17.
Duran was promoted from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A on Sept. 14. He gave up two runs on three walks and zero hits while striking out three in 1.1 innings in his lone Triple-A appearance and was placed on the development list a few days later. This was Duran's first season back after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022. He knocked some rust off at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga to start the year and then had a decent showing at Double-A in the middle of the season, logging a 3.05 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 38.1 innings across 11 starts. Duran built up to 53.1 innings in his first year back and will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft this offseason if the Dodgers don't add him to the 40-man roster.

Dodgers' Carlos Duran: On mend from Tommy John surgery
Duran underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this offseason and is expected to miss the entire 2023 season, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports.
Regarded as one of the top arms in the lower levels of the Dodgers' farm system, the 21-year-old Duran finished the 2022 campaign at High-A Great Lakes, where he submitted a 4.25 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 68:24 K:BB in 48.2 innings. Though his recently elbow surgery is a setback to his development, Duran is young enough to bounce back from the procedure and enjoy a productive career.

Dodgers' Carlos Duran: Debuts at High-A
Duran (shoulder) struck out four over two perfect innings Wednesday for High-A Great Lakes after he was activated by the affilliate.
Duran was cleared to make his season debut at High-A after making just one rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League six days prior. The 21-year-old right-hander had been on the shelf all season due to a sore right shoulder.

Dodgers' Carlos Duran: Suffers small setback
Duran was held back in extended spring training due to a small setback in building up his arm, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.
According to Callis, Duran may need a full month to get built up before heading to High-A Great Lakes. The 20-year-old righty logged two starts at High-A last year after posting a 5.25 ERA, 3.63 xFIP, 1.43 WHIP and 109:24 K:BB in 73.2 innings at Low-A.
