Suwinksi went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Thursday against the Phillies. Suwinski has had a poor second half of the season, though he's turned things around within the last few weeks. Since the start of September, he's maintained a .295 batting average (23-for-78) while hitting four home runs, driving in 16 and scoring 12 runs across 24 games. Despite some inconsistencies, Suwinski should be locked into a starting outfield role in Pittsburgh to begin 2024.... See More ... See Less

Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sitting against lefty
Suwinski is not in the lineup Friday against the Reds. Miguel Andujar, Ji Hwan Bae and Henry Davis will start across the outfield as the Pirates take on left-hander Andrew Abbott. Suwinski has slashed just .178/.282/.257 in 117 plate appearances versus southpaws this year.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Belts homer No. 25
Suwinski went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's victory over Washington. Suwinski jumped on the first pitch he saw from Josiah Gray in the second inning and launched it into the stands in right field for his 25th home run of the season. The center fielder also added a single on the day, giving him his fifth multi-hit game this month, and he's now hit safely in seven straight. Suwinski has been very productive in September, batting .324 with three homers, nine RBI and five runs scored. He's also recorded at least one RBI in six of his last seven games.... See More ... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: On base four times, swipes bag
Suwinski went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base while drawing two intentional walks during Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Nationals. Suwinski reached base in four of his five plate appearances. He roped a first-inning double down the right-field line, stole second base after a single in the third and later drew a pair of intentional walks. The 25-year-old outfielder has now hit safely in each of his last five games, going 7-for-18 (.389) with three doubles, one home run, five RBI, two runs and three steals during the modest hit streak.... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: More consistent contact
Suwinski went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against Atlanta. Suwinski has slumped for nearly the entire second half of the season and had lost playing time as a result. However, with Andrew McCutchen (Achilles) out for the season, Suwinski should take over a strong-side platoon role between designated hitter and the corner outfield. His recent production provides some hope that he can take advantage of the opportunity, as he has three home runs across his last eight games and has limited his strikeout rate to a relatively low 23.1 percent clip in that span.... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Swats two-run homer
Suwinski went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win against Milwaukee on Monday. The Pirates were behind by two runs in the fourth inning when Suwinski tied the score with his two-run blast to center field. The long ball was just his second since July 24, a span during which he's slashed a dreadful .141/.286/.263 over 33 contests. Suwinski has struck out at a 35.6 percent clip since the All-Star break, the worst mark among qualified MLB hitters in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Snaps slump Wednesday
Suwinski went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Royals. Suwinski had gone without a homer since July 24, and he didn't have a multi-hit effort in August prior to Wednesday. While he's been inconsistent, he's starting to get things turned around, hitting safely in five of his last six games, though he also snapped a 10-game RBI drought Wednesday. For the season, the outfielder has 22 homers, 56 RBI, 51 runs scored and nine stolen bases, but he's slashing just .207/.334/.445 through 117 contests. Suwinski will likely remain limited to a strong-side platoon role down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: On bench again Thursday
Suwinski remains out of the lineup Thursday versus the Cubs. Suwinksi hasn't drawn a start since Monday and will remain on the bench Thursday as the Pirates take on left-hander Justin Steele. The 25-year-old outfielder has struggled to a .071/.257/.125 batting line in 70 plate appearances so far in August and holds an overall .594 OPS against lefties this year.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sitting out versus lefty
Suwinski is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Cardinals, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The Cardinals are starting southpaw Zack Thompson, so the lefty-hitting Suwinski will hit the bench for the series finale. He also didn't start Tuesday against right-hander Adam Wainwright after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Monday's series opener. Suwinski is going through one of his patented slumps this month with a .382 OPS so far in August.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: On bench amid slump
Suwinski is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Cardinals. Suwinksi went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Monday's series opener and is slashing just .071/.257/.125 in 70 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to August. Josh Palacios will patrol center field and bat sixth Tuesday against the Cardinals and right-hander Adam Wainwright.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sits versus southpaw
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins. He'll retreat to the bench while the Twins bring southpaw Dallas Keuchel to the hill for the series finale. The lefty-hitting Suwinski has been far more effective against right-handers (124 wRC+) than southpaws this season, batting .205/.300/.308 (70 wRC+) in 90 plate appearances versus same-handed pitching.... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sits against lefty
Suwinski is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Reds. Lefty Brandon Williamson is starting Game 1 for the Reds, so Suwinski will begin this contest on the bench. Connor Joe draws the start in left field with Bryan Reynolds shifting to center. Suwinski should slot back in for a favorable matchup in the nightcap against righty Luke Weaver.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Not starting versus lefty
Suwinski isn't in the Pirates' lineup Saturday against the Reds, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Brandon Williamson will take the mound to start Saturday's game, so the lefty-hitting Suwinski will remain in the dugout. Josh Palacios will take over in center field and bat seventh.... See More ... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sits versus southpaw
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. Suwinski went 2-for-5 with a double Saturday but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale since lefty Cristopher Sanchez is pitching for Philadelphia. Josh Palacios will man center field and bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Slugs homer in win
Suwinski went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's 8-4 win over the Padres. Suwinski was on the bench for the last two games as the Pirates faced lefties both times. He went 0-for-3 off the bench in those contests before bouncing back with his first multi-hit effort since July 4 in Monday's win. The outfielder is up to 21 homers, 52 RBI, 42 runs scored, 13 doubles and seven stolen bases while slashing .230/.349/.513 over 88 games.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sitting versus southpaw
Suwinski is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazettereports. The Halos will start a lefty (Tyler Anderson) for the second straight game, so Suwinski again finds himself on the bench. Bryan Reynolds moves over to center field while Connor Joe receives another start in left.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Pops 18th homer
Suwinski went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Dodgers. Suwinski has gone deep three times and added eight RBI over his last eight games. He's gone 9-for-23 (.391) with an 8:6 BB:K over that span. The outfielder is up to 18 homers -- one off his career high -- with 43 RBI, 38 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a .235/.365/.513 slash line through 75 contests this season while maintaining a starting role in center field.... Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Smacks 16th homer
Suwinski went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-4 victory over the Padres. Suwinski went back-to-back with Carlos Santana in the third inning, crushing a 421-foot shot off Reiss Knehr to put the Pirates ahead 5-3. The homer snapped an extended slump for Suwinski -- he'd gone 0-for-29 over his prior 11 games. The 24-year-old outfielder has been all-or-nothing at the plate this year. He's slashing .217/.337/.488 with 16 homers, 36 RBI, 32 runs scored and six steals across 249 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
