  • Phillies' Hector Perez: Joins Philadelphia on MiLB pact

Perez signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Saturday. The 27-year-old right-hander received a brief cup of coffee with the Rays earlier this season for what was his first MLB appearance since 2020, but he's otherwise spent the entire 2023 campaign at Triple-A Durham before he elected free agency earlier this month. Over 33 appearances with Durham spanning 53 innings, Perez compiled a 4.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 69:30 K:BB. He's expected to settle into a multi-inning relief role with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley.

  • Hector Perez: Searching for new home

Perez elected free agency Sunday. Rather than sticking around in the Rays organization after clearing waivers upon being designated for assignment Thursday, the 27-year-old right-hander will seek out an opportunity elsewhere. Perez made just one appearance at the big-league level prior to losing his 40-man roster spot and had instead spent most of the season at Triple-A Durham, where he accrued a 4.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 69:30 K:BB across 53 frames.

  • Rays' Hector Perez: Pushed off 40-man roster

Perez was designated for assignment by the Rays on Thursday. The move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Andrew Kittredge (elbow) as he returns Thursday from the 60-day injured list. Perez allowed a run on three hits and a walk while recording only one out in a relief appearance Wednesday versus the Giants.

  • Rays' Hector Perez: Added to roster

The Rays selected Perez's contract from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. Perez was removed from Tampa Bay's 40-man roster back in April but has found his way back to the big leagues. While the 27-year-old was with the Rays briefly earlier this season, he didn't appear in a game and hasn't seen any action in the majors since 2020. He'll be ticketed for a low-leverage relief role while he's with Tampa Bay.

  • Rays' Hector Perez: Outrighted off 40-man roster

The Rays outrighted Perez to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. He lost his spot on the 40-man roster over the weekend but will remain in the organization as relief depth. Perez didn't make an appearance during his brief time with the big club.

  • Rays' Hector Perez: DFA'd by Tampa Bay

Perez was designated for assignment by the Rays on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Tampa Bay selected Perez's contract on Saturday, and he'll lose his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters without appearing in a game. The 26-year-old has given up six earned runs with a 13:3 K:BB over seven innings at Triple-A Durham this season, and he'll likely return to the affiliate if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Rays' Hector Perez: Contract selected by Rays

Perez's contract was selected by the Rays on Saturday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
