Whitefield was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Angels on Tuesday. Whitefield went 0-for-11 in what was essentially an emergency call-up for the Angels in May. The outfielder will likely begin the season in Triple-A and will have to work his way back onto the 40-man roster.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Aaron Whitefield: Sent to Double-A
Whitefield cleared waivers and was outrighted to Double-A Rocket City on Wednesday, . Whitefield was designated for assignment over the weekend and will now return to Double-A after going 0-for-11 in five big-league games. He has a .301/.400/.538 slash line with five home runs, 17 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 24 games for Rocket City this season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Aaron Whitefield: Designated for assignment
Whitefield was designated for assignment Saturday. This came a week after his contract was originally selected from Double-A, so his time on the 40-man roster was short-lived. He hit .301/.400/.538 with five home runs and 13 steals in 24 games at Double-A prior to the promotion.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Aaron Whitefield: Contract selected Sunday
Whitefield had his contract selected by the Angels on Sunday. Whitefield joined the Angels during the offseason and will join the big-league club after posting a .938 OPS in 24 games with Double-A Rocket City. He made his major-league debut in 2020 with the Twins but appeared in only three games. The 25-year-old should serve as a reserve option at first base and in the corner outfield spots.... Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Twins outrighted Whitefield off the 40-man roster Monday and assigned him to their alternate training site, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. A surprise addition to the Twins' season-opening 30-man active roster, Whitefield appeared in three games before he was optioned last week. The Twins quietly designated him for assignment days later, and the 23-year-old will now stick in the organization after he went unclaimed off waivers. He'll maintain a spot in the Twins' 60-man player pool, but he'll need to be added back to the 40-man roster in order to play in games with the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Sent to alternate training site
Whitefield was optioned to the Twins' alternate training site after Wednesday's win over the Pirates. Whitefield made the Opening Day roster but appeared in only three games and had one at-bat this season, so it's not much of a surprise he's heading to the alternate site with rosters dropping from 30 to 28 players Thursday.... Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Makes Opening Day roster
Whitefield has made Minnesota's Opening Day 30-man roster. Whitefield is a surprise addition, but he'll likely just add outfield depth with Byron Buxton on the 30-man roster but working his way back from a foot injury. Whitefield will likely be sent back to the team's alternative training camp next week when Buxton shows he's able to play at full strength. Whitefield was added to the 40-man roster as a result.... Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Joins player pool
Whitefield was added to the Twins' 60-man player pool Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Whitefield will give the Twins added depth this season, though it's very unlikely that he makes his big-league debut this year. The 23-year-old hit a poor .220/.279/.328 in 81 games for High-A Fort Myers last season and a considerably worse .137/.174/.176 in 31 games for Double-A Pensacola, though he did at least steal a combined 30 bases.... Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Available off bench
Whitefield (undisclosed) is listed among the Twins' available extras for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game versus the Rays, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. It's unclear if the Twins actually intend to use Whitefield, but the fact that he's dressing for the contest is an indication his health isn't much of a concern after he collided with the outfield wall in Monday's game against the Orioles. Whitefield hasn't played above the High-A level and will likely be one of several players sent back to minor-league camp within the next week or so.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Aaron Whitefield: Exits with apparent injury
Whitefield exited Monday's game against the Orioles after colliding with the outfield wall, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Whitefield paid the price after making an impressive catch up against the outfield wall Monday. Specifics regarding the injury remain unclear at the moment, but more should be known after he's reevaluated.... See More ... See Less
