Though Solis isn't guaranteed to pitch Tuesday, his inclusion on the lineup card is seemingly a sign that he's finally healthy again after he had failed to log any regular-season action at any level since 2018, when he submitted a 3.55 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 51:32 K:BB across 50.2 innings for Single-A Quad Cities. Since that season, Solis has undergone a pair of Tommy John surgeries, but Kenny Van Doren of KCOU 88.1 FM Columbia notes that the right-hander has been facing live hitters during spring training. Expect Solis to report to Single-A Fayetteville or High-A Asheville to begin the 2023 campaign as he aims to get his career back on track.

Solis' spot on the 40-man roster will go to utility man Niko Goodrum, whose one-year contract with the club was finalized in a corresponding move. A 22-year-old right-hander, Solis was once one of the more promising lower-level prospects in the Astros' system, but he hasn't made a minor-league appearance since 2018 after undergoing two Tommy John surgeries. He had his most recent procedure last June and can presumably be ruled out for the entire 2022 campaign.

Solis missed the 2019 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, so this latest procedure couldn't have come at a worse time. Even if he returns around the start of August, he will only have time to make a handful of starts before the end or the minor-league season. Solis has a high ceiling and is already on the 40-man roster, so Houston may look to send him to the Arizona Fall League so that he can log more innings in 2021.

One of Houston's most talented prospects, Solis missed the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery but he shouldn't be overlooked in dynasty leagues. Prior to the injury, Solis' fastball projected as a 70-grade pitch and he also has a plus curveball. He could shoot up rankings if he impresses early in 2021, likely at High-A or Double-A.
