Seabold did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing a run on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out five. It was certainly Seabold's best outing of the season, as he pitched to a 6.35 ERA in his previous five starts. However, Colorado's bullpen couldn't maintain the lead as Arizona eventually came away with a 5-4 victory, leaving Seabold with a no-decision. The 27-year-old right-hander is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 32:15 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season. While the numbers aren't great, Seabold will likely remain in the Rockies' rotation while Antonio Senzatela (elbow), German Marquez (elbow) and Ryan Feltner (elbow) are all sidelined.... See More ... Rockies' Connor Seabold: Takes second loss of season
Seabold (1-2) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out two. Seabold continues his struggles, as he's now allowed 12 earned runs over his last 12.2 innings pitched. The right-hander also hasn't tossed more than five innings in a start all year. The 27-year-old is tentatively slated to face Arizona at home in his next start.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Hit hard in first loss
Seabold (1-1) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 3.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus hte Rangers. The Rangers did their damage against Seabold in the second inning, which included home runs from Josh Jung and Corey Seager. With 15 runs allowed (13 earned) over 18 innings across his four starts this season, Seabold's not making a great case to stick in the rotation. He's at a 5.97 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB over 31.2 innings across 11 appearances overall. With the Rockies' rotation still banged up, Seabold can be tentatively projected for a home start versus the Mets next week.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Yields six runs in no-decision
Seabold allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings during Monday's win over the Reds. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision. Seabold was shaky all game, allowing at least one run in four separate innings. The Reds only collected three extra-base hits against him, including back-to-back doubles in the fifth inning by Spencer Steer and Tyler Stephenson. Seabold saw his ERA creep up to 5.14 with a 20:9 K:BB through 28 frames. He's currently lined up for a road start against the Rangers this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Grabs first win
Seabold (1-0) earned the win Tuesday, allowing a run on three hits and three walks over five innings against Pittsburgh. He struck out three. Seabold was solid against the Pirates, allowing just a run on three hits to pick up his first win in his second start this season. The 27-year-old Seabold lowered his ERA to 4.56 with a 1.44 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB through 23.2 innings. With Noah Davis (elbow) eligible to come off the IL on Monday, the Rockies may elect to move Seabold back to the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Draws second start
Seabold is listed as the Rockies' probable starting pitcher for Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh. Seabold fell below the baseline for a quality start his last time out Thursday against the Brewers (three earned runs allowed over five innings), but it's enough for the 26-year-old right-hander to receive another turn through the depleted Colorado rotation. Even though he'll move from the hitter-friendly Coors Field to the more forgiving confines of PNC Park for his second start of the season, Seabold still won't make for a reliable streaming option.... Rockies' Connor Seabold: Will get start Thursday
Seabold will start Thursday's game against the Brewers at Coors Field, Suzie Hunter of TheDNVR.com reports. Antonio Senzatela (knee) will then come off the injured list to handle Friday's series opener at the Mets, with he and Seabold filling the rotation spots that became open when Noah Davis (elbow) and German Marquez (elbow) recently hit the IL. Seabold has worked exclusively in relief so far this season with Colorado and holds a 5.27 ERA through 13.2 innings. He's not a recommended fantasy streamer, even if Thursday's outing proves to be more than just a spot start.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Recalled from Albuquerque
The Rockies recalled Seabold from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. With German Marquez (elbow) landing on the 15-day injured list Friday, Seabold will take Marquez's spot on the Rockies' pitching staff. Seabold has already made six appearances for Colorado this season, logging a 5.23 ERA and 1.55 WHIP alongside a 10:3 K:BB through 10.1 innings. He's a likely candidate to replace Marquez in the rotation, otherwise he could work in a multi-inning relief role.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Optioned to Triple-A level
Seabold was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Albuquerque. Seabold had surrendered six earned runs on 13 hits and three walks through 10.1 innings of relief this season with Colorado. Peter Lambert is getting the call from Triple-A in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Could pitch out of bullpen
Rockies manager Bud Black suggested that Seabold could make the Opening Day roster as a bullpen option, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. "I like his stuff, "Black said. "He's got a starter past. that gives him some pitchability -- the ability to give us length if he pitches out of the bullpen." Seabold also hasn't been ruled out for a rotation spot, as he's battling for one of the final places in the starting rotation. So far in the Cactus League, the 27-year-old has a 4.35 ERA, but five of his runs allowed over 10.1 innings came in one outing. Be it as a starter or a long reliever it sounds like Seabold has a good chance of breaking camp with the Rockies to begin 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Working multiple innings
Seabold has allowed one earned run across seven innings while striking out seven and walking none during three Cactus League appearances. Seabold hasn't started a game, but he has worked multiple innings in each of his three appearances during the exhibition season. The Rockies haven't made their plans for Seabold clear at this point, though it appears he'll occupy a multi-inning role regardless of whether it comes as a starter or reliever. Colorado acquired him from the Red Sox this offseason after he posted an 11.29 ERA and 2.35 WHIP across 18.1 innings with Boston in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Connor Seabold: Traded to Colorado
Seabold was traded from the Red Sox to the Rockies on Tuesday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Seabold made five starts for Boston last season, struggling to a 11.29 ERA and 2.35 WHIP. A .476 BABIP undoubtedly inflated his numbers, but he also gave up five homers in 18.1 innings, something his 29.4 percent groundball rate indicates could be a persistent problem. While there may be fewer obstacles between him and a rotation role in his new home, a move to the league's most hitter-friendly park hardly enhances the righty's fantasy appeal.... See More ... Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Designated for assignment
Seabold was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Thursday. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Corey Kluber. Seabold has been blasted for a 10.55 ERA over six starts at the major-league level from 2021-22, but he has a 3.39 ERA with 141 strikeouts across 140.2 innings at Triple-A during that span. There figures to be some interest in the righty on waivers.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Optioned to Triple-A
Seabold was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports. Seabold has thrown 18.1 innings over five starts for Boston this season, and he's put up a less-than-spectacular 11.29 ERA and 2.35 WHIP in the process. Those numbers drop to a much more respectable 3.32 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in Triple-A, but he has yet to put things together in the majors. His departure opens a spot the roster, which will almost certainly be filled by Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) when he comes off the injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Knocked around in two innings
Seabold allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters over two innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Monday. Seabold's outing got off to an ominous start when Cedric Mullins opened the contest with a solo home run against him, and the rookie right-hander gave up four more runs in the second inning, though one was unearned. It was perhaps merciful, then, that a nearly two-hour rain delay interrupted the contest and resulted in Seabold's removal. With the poor outing, Seabold's ERA shot up to 11.29 on the season, and he's given up four or more earned runs in four of his five starts while completing five innings only once.... See More ... Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Remains in rotation
Seabold is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Orioles at Fenway Park. Boston isn't expected to return rehabbing starter Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list until at least Thursday, so Seabold will be in store for a second straight turn through the rotation. After getting called up from Triple-A Worcester last week to serve as Boston's No. 5 starter, Seabold dropped to 0-3 after giving up four earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings.... Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Takes third loss
Seabold (0-3) allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Reds. Seabold re-entered the rotation with Kutter Crawford (shoulder) sidelined. Despite handing out only one free pass, Seabold struggled with his command as he hit a batter and threw four wild pitches. Positively, he didn't allow any extra-base hits and all six singles were below 81.5 mph, so most of the damage was self-inflicted. Seabold is likely to stick in the Boston rotation for the rest of the regular season, though he now owns a 10.47 ERA across a very small 16.1 inning sample in the majors for the season.... Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Called up for start
The Red Sox recalled Seabold from Triple-A Worcester ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday in Cincinnati. Boston moved reliever Garrett Whitlock (hip) to the 15-day injured list to open up a spot on the 28-man active roster for Seabold, who is rejoining the big club for the first time in the second half. While making three starts for the Red Sox prior to the All-Star break, Seabold delivered an 11.91 ERA and 2.56 WHIP in 11.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Starting Wednesday in Cincy
Seabold will be called up from Triple-A Worcester to start Wednesday's game in Cincinnati, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports. With Kutter Crawford (shoulder) shut down for the season, Seabold could make two or three starts before the end of the season, depending the health of the other starters and whether they go with a five- or six-man rotation. Seabold, 26, logged a 3.32 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 86.2 innings at Triple-A.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A
Seabold (forearm) was activated from the 15-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports. Seabold landed on the shelf July 8 with a strained forearm, and he's been cleared for game action after recently being deemed ready to face live hitters. The 26-year-old has started three games for the Red Sox this year and has given up 15 earned runs with a 13:5 K:BB over 11.1 innings. He will make his way back to Worcester now that he's healthy....
