The Tigers optioned Vilade to Triple-A Toledo on Monday. Vilade went 2-for-9 at the dish during his brief time in the majors. He's headed back to Toledo, where he should see steady playing time at all three outfield spots.... See More ... See Less

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Plates three in team debut
Vilade went 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBI in Tuesday's 11-7 win over the Guardians. Making his debut with Detroit and first appearance in the majors since 2021, Vilade started in right field and batted seventh. The 25-year-old quickly made an impact, and he could see some more playing time in the short term with Mark Canha (illness) missing Tuesday's contest. However, Vilade will likely shift to a bench role or return to the minors once Canha gets healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Making Tigers debut
Vilade is batting seventh and playing right field Tuesday against the Guardians. Vilade will make his first big league appearance since 2021 after being called up to join Detroit following a hot start to the season at Triple-A Toledo. However, he'll likely have a tough time finding consistent work in a crowded Tigers outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Set for promotion
Vilade is expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Vilade will presumably be promoted in time for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, but the club has yet to provide additional details. The 25-year-old has fared well so far this season for the Mud Hens, hitting .333 with three home runs, 17 RBI, eight stolen bases and 16 runs over 27 games.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Sent down to minor-league camp
The Tigers reassigned Vilade to minor-league camp Thursday. Vilade managed to stick in major-league camp for a while even as he never really had much of a chance to crack the big-league roster. He'll play all over the diamond with Triple-A Toledo.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryan Vilade: Clears waivers, outrighted
Vilade cleared waivers and was outrighted Tuesday to Triple-A Indianapolis, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. Vilade was designated for assignment by the Pirates on the morning of Opening Day. The 24-year-old outfielder has logged only seven career plate appearances at the MLB level.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryan Vilade: Designated for assignment
Vilade was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Thursday. Vilade didn't make the cut for an Opening Day roster spot and now moves into DFA limbo. Pittsburgh claimed the 24-year-old outfielder away from the Rockies back in November.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryan Vilade: Heading to Pittsburgh
Vilade was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Wednesday. Vilade made his major-league debut during a brief stint with Colorado in 2021, but he spent the entire 2022 campaign in the minors. He slashed .249/.345/.352 with five homers, 64 runs, 38 RBI and 10 stolen bases over 99 games at Triple-A Albuquerque last year and will likely head to Triple-A Indianapolis once the 2023 season gets underway.... Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Lacking power
Vilade has maintained a .324 wOBA and 83 wRC+ with Triple-A Albuquerque across 249 plate appearances this season. Vilade's profile has remained very familiar. He has only 13 extra-base hits in an extremely hitter-friendly environment and has paired his .090 ISO with only five stolen bases. The lack of power and speed tools will limit his fantasy impact, though his plate discipline remains very impressive. Vilade has struck out at just a 12.9 percent clip while walking 12.4 percent of the time. The Rockies outfield appears crowded at the moment, but with 767 plate appearances at Albuquerque between 2021 and 2022, Vilade could get the call at some point in the second half of the season.... Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Sent to Albuquerque
The Rockies optioned Vilade to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. Vilade was one of four players on the Rockies' 40-man roster that was dispatched to the minors Thursday, leaving Colorado with 47 players remaining at MLB camp. One of the top hitting prospects in the organization, Vilade received his first cup of coffee with the big club in September of last season, but it may take an absence of one of the Rockies' four projected everyday corner-infield or corner-outfield players (C.J. Cron, Ryan McMahon, Charlie Blackmon and Kris Bryant) before the 23-year-old gets an extended look in the majors. Vilade will begin the 2022 campaign in Albuquerque, where he slashed .282/.337/.408 with seven home runs and 12 stolen bases across 518 plate appearances a year ago.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Optioned back to Albuquerque
Vilade was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. Vilade was recalled last Saturday and wound up going 0-for-6 across his first three major-league games. He'll return to Albuquerque to make room for Friday's starting pitcher Peter Lambert on the 28-man roster.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Joining big-league camp
Vilade was invited to Colorado's big-league camp Tuesday. Vilade will get to spend some time with the Rockies' big-league coaching staff but is probably at least a year away from joining them on a permanent basis. He impressed in 128 games for High-A Lancaster in 2019, hitting .303/.367/.466 with 12 homers and 24 steals, but the canceled minor-league season last year prevented him from continuing his climb up the ladder.... Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Moves into roster pool
The Rockies added Vilade to their 60-man roster pool Monday. Vilade was one of nine new additions to the roster pool made by the Rockies, but none of those players are considered prime candidates to join the big-league roster in the immediate future. In Vilade's case, his inclusion in the pool is most likely a measure by the Rockies to more closely monitor the development of one of their top prospects at their alternate training site. Had the minor-league season not been cancelled this season, Vilade likely would have began the campaign at Double-A Hartford after he slashed .303/.367/.466 with 12 home runs and 24 stolen bases in the California League in 2019.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Won't play any more shortstop
Vilade won't play any more shortstop but will instead focus on third base, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. Vilade was exclusively a shortstop for his first two professional seasons, but he has a third baseman's build, so a transition to the hot corner was always likely. At the major-league level, trade rumors have been swirling around third baseman Nolan Arenado for quite a while, while shortstop Trevor Story doesn't appear to be going anywhere, so the position switch may increase Vilade's chances of eventually making the team.... Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Will appear at Rockies camp
Vilade was invited to the Rockies' major-league spring training Wednesday. Vilade performed well in 2019 for High-A Lancaster, hitting .303/.367/.466 with 12 home runs, 92 runs scored and 71 RBI in 587 plate appearances. The highly-ranked third-base prospect also swiped 24 bags last season, and he'll have the chance to learn from the major-league staff this spring before returning to the minors for ongoing development.... Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Heating back up in High-A
Vilade went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and a pair of RBI for High-A Lancaster on Thursday. Vilade had cooled a bit after a solid start to the season, but he's picking it back up, as he's logged six extra-base hits in the month of June, and had a huge day Thursday that saw him fall a triple short of the cycle. Vilade is still hitting just .263 and slugging .378 for the JetHawks, but he has shown encouraging plate discipline, as he's drawn 38 walks in 217 at-bats to help him to a solid .373 on-base percentage. He's also swiped 10 bases in 14 attempts.... See More ... See Less
