Red Sox's Morgan McSweeney: Latches on with Red Sox
Boston signed McSweeney to a minor-league contract Monday, Andrew Parker of Sox Prospects reports.
McSweeney fared well pitching with Triple-A Jacksonville a season ago, working to a 2.21 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 42:23 K:BB across 61 innings. It remains to be seen whether he'll report to Double-A Portland or Triple-A Worcester, per Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette but he'll serve as organizational depth either way.
