  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Placed on injured list

The White Sox placed Elko on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right knee sprain. Elko suffered the injury during the first game of Friday's doubleheader versus Cleveland, and he'll now officially remain out until at least shortly after the All-Star break. Will Robertson will come up from Triple-A Charlotte to fill the open spot on Chicago's bench.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Departs with knee injury

Elko was removed from the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians due to right knee soreness. Elko started at first base and struck out in his lone plate appearance prior to exiting the contest. It's unclear if the 26-year-old will be available for Friday's nightcap, and he should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Back in big leagues

The White Sox recalled Elko from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. He'll start at first base and bat seventh in the White Sox's series finale versus the Blue Jays. Elko has struggled during his big-league chances thus far, putting up a .601 OPS and 38.1 percent strikeout rate over 63 plate appearances. The right-handed-hitting Elko could be a regular part of the White Sox lineup against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to start versus righties could be more limited.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Two straight starts since promotion

Elko went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday against the Tigers. Elko has started at first base and hit sixth in two straight games since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. He has one hit in each contest and provided the game-winning knock in the 10th inning Thursday, though that was also paired with three strikeouts. However, Elko's playing time figured to be impacted by the impending promotion of top prospect Kyle Teel.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Rejoins major-league club

The White Sox recalled Elko from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Elko went just 5-for-31 at the plate during his first stint in the majors, although three of those hits were home runs. The 26-year-old has mashed at Charlotte this season (.984 OPS, 11 home runs) and could receive fairly regular playing time between first base and/or designated hitter after the White Sox placed Lenyn Sosa (hip) on the injured list in a corresponding transaction.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Back to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Elko to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Elko is headed back to the minors after the White Sox activated both Andrew Benintendi (calf) and Mike Tauchman (hamstring) from the 10-day IL on Friday. Elko flashed some pop in his first 32 big-league plate appearances, swatting three home runs, but he slashed just .161/.188/.452 with five RBI, four runs scored and a 1:10 BB:K across 10 contests.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Tallies second homer

Elko went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday against the Cubs. Elko sat the last two games with a righty on the mound, but he returned Saturday against left-hander Matthew Boyd. He appears to be settling into a small-side platoon role, though the situation is likely to remain fluid. Elko is now 3-for-17 with a pair of homers and four RBI in his first six MLB contests.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Receiving first day off

Elko is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds. After getting his first big-league call-up Saturday, Elko had started at first base or designated hitter in each of the White Sox's ensuing four games, going 2-for-14 with a home run and three RBI. The White Sox will likely continue to carve out at least a semi-regular role for Elko in the short term, though he'll still be subject to occasional days off versus right-handed pitching.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Promotion made official

The White Sox selected Elko's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. Elko was a 10th-round pick for the White Sox in 2022 and has progressed consistently through the team's system. He's maintained a .339/.423/.661 line across 130 plate appearances with Charlotte this season, earning him his first shot in the majors. Elko will man first base and hit eighth in his debut Saturday against Miami, per Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com.

  • White Sox's Tim Elko: Mashing at Triple-A

Elko is slashing .348/.431/.670 with 10 home runs and a 28.5 percent strikeout rate in 31 games for Triple-A Charlotte. Elko is a righty-hitting first baseman who is already 26, so it's possible he's just a Quad-A hitter when it's all said and done. His 27.6 percent hard-hit rate and 67 percent contact rate aren't great marks, especially for an older first baseman. Elko is not yet on Chicago's 40-man roster.
