  https://t.co/VTM22KV4BT Billy Cook missed the first call to tell him he was going to the Majors because he was playing Fortnite. When he did get to Pittsburgh, he introduced himself to Pirates fans with a couple of hits, a couple of RBI and a catch where he fell into the stands.

  That’s game. Pirates 7, Nationals 3. Jared Jones shoved. Billy Cook cooked. Joey Bart, Andrew McCutchen and Michael A. Taylor homered (with it being No. 100 for Taylor). Pirates split the series. They are 67-76.

  Jared Jones' day is done. 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 9 K, 0 BB. Started a little shaky but was outstanding from the third inning on, not allowing a base runner. He threw the curveball a ton (27 times) and it paid off handsomely. 7-2 Pirates. Jalen Beeks in to pitch.

  Alika Williams beats a bang-bang contact play at home. Went in feet first. Yesterday, he was thrown out at home trying to get the plate with his backhand rather than going feet first. Small change gets the Pirates the run this time. RBI for Bryan Reynolds. 6-2 Pirates

  That's game. Nationals 8, Pirates 6 Aroldis Chapman blows the save in the ninth. Connor Joe nearly made an outstanding catch to win it, but he couldn't hang onto it as he hit the ground. Pirates are swept in the doubleheader and are 66-76. They'll go for a series split tomorrow
