AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell35M agoHere's @m_sheldon on the Padres offense, which went ice cold at the worst possible time. https://t.co/kbl6UIJ1sM

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell11H agoA Padres team that summoned dramatic victories all summer long, could only lament the fact that, when it mattered most, they didn't have one more in them. The future is brighter than it was a year ago. But the sting of the present greatly outweighs that. https://t.co/5j7tajA6Iv

Kevin Acee@sdutKevinAcee13H ago“I’m sad for this team. We had everything to go all the way. ... They played better than we did the past two games. We’re going home.” Padres blanked in do-or-die Game 5 of NL Division Series, ending their season https://t.co/6jR4PwmABr

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell14H agoA nightmare ending to the 2024 Padres season. https://t.co/D06653hC1V

Kevin Acee@sdutKevinAcee14H agoThe quick game story will be updated with quotes later: Padres blanked in do-or-die Game 5 of NL Division Series, ending their season https://t.co/6jR4Pwn8qZ

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell14H agoFinal: Dodgers 2, Padres 0 After a second-half run that inspired so much belief, the ending is a nightmare for the 2024 Padres. They were eliminated at Dodger Stadium, held scoreless in their final 24 innings -- the longest postseason drought for any team in 33 years.
-
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell14H agoThe Padres offense looks as listless as it has all year. Dodgers pitchers have retired 16 straight San Diego hitters. Three outs to go for the Padres to save their season.
-
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell14H agoThe Dodgers had evidently planned on using Vesia to get through the SD lefties. But now they're forced into calling on righty Michael Kopech to face the Padres' lane of lefties. If Bogaerts can reach base, they'll get a couple decent left-on-right matchups here. Still 2-0 LA.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell15H agoTeoscar Hernández took Yu Darvish deep, and the Dodgers double their lead. It's 2-0. Darvish's night is done after 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball. The 2022 Padres' season ended after a similar line from Darvish in Game 5 in Philly.
-
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell15H agoThe Padres are down to their final six outs. Meantime, Yu Darvish is back to the mound for the seventh. If they can score a run, they'll have the entire back-end of their bullpen about as fresh as possible as long as they need them. If they can score a run.
