Cubs were surprised to learn he had been playing through it which was revealed when Swanson told them after year ended he wanted to see specialist & get it fixed.

He’s fine going into spring training. … The first part of his offseason’s certainly affected, but no concerns being ready.”

They've signed two catchers and a pitcher (Matthew Boyd) via free agency while trading for another one (Eli Morgan). Still trying to improve the pen.
