    The Red Sox outrighted Hamilton to Triple-A Worcester on Friday. Hamilton will remain in the Boston organization after he cleared waivers upon being designated for assignment last week. The Red Sox previously claimed Hamilton in October off waivers from the Twins, with whom he posted a .449 OPS over 23 plate appearances in 2022.

  • Red Sox's Caleb Hamilton: DFA'd by Boston

    Hamilton was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by Boston in mid-October but won't stick on the 40-man roster through the offseason. Hamilton made his big-league debut with Minnesota last season and went 1-for-18 with 14 strikeouts and four walks.

    Hamilton had his contract selected by the Twins on Friday. The 27-year-old will receive his first taste of the big leagues with starting catcher Ryan Jeffers (thumb) placed on the injured list. Hamilton has a .258/.392/.497 slash line with 10 home runs and 35 RBI for Triple-A St. Paul this year, and he should serve as Minnesota's backup catcher as Gary Sanchez takes over primary duties behind the plate.
