  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Sitting against southpaw

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies. With the Guardians facing another left-handed pitcher, Schneemann will be on the bench for a second consecutive game. Brayan Rocchio will bat eighth and play shortstop.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Clubs fourth homer

Schneemann went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers. Schneemann got the Guardians within a run with his fourth-inning blast, but they couldn't pull even. The utility player has gone 4-for-20 (.200) across seven games in July, though all of those hits have gone for extra bases (two homers, two doubles). He's at a .247/.348/.506 slash line with four homers, 14 RBI, 10 runs scored, four doubles, two triples and one stolen base through 92 plate appearances. Schneemann continues to be an option at multiple positions, putting pressure on Jhonkensy Noel, Tyler Freeman and Brayan Rocchio as the Guardians have a number of different looks to fill out the bottom half of the order.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Sitting against southpaw

Schneemann isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Giants. With lefty Kyle Harrison set to start on the mound for the Giants, the left-handed bat of Schneemann will take a seat on the bench Saturday. His absence will allow Steven Kwan, Tyler Freeman and Jhonkensy Noel to start across Cleveland's outfield.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Picks up first steal

Schneemann went 0-for-3 with a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners. Schneemann has gained traction in the lineup as a utility player -- Wednesday marked his fifth straight start. He got the nod at shortstop over Brayan Rocchio for this contest. Schneemann has done his part to stay in the lineup by hitting .333 through his first 12 major-league games. He's added four extra-base hits, six RBI, five runs scored, and his steal Wednesday was the first of his career. He also has a 7:9 BB:K so far, with his good plate discipline being a perfect fit for a Guardians team that prioritizes getting on base.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Collects first hit, RBI in debut

Schneemann went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Nationals. Schneemann made his major-league debut Sunday, and it didn't take him long to add a couple other milestones. He produced a two-run double in his first at-bat, providing all of the Guardians' run production in the contest. The 27-year-old is likely to take on a utility role -- he started at second base Sunday but likely won't see much time there with Andres Gimenez in a starting role at the keystone. Schneemann's best paths to playing time will likely be right field or shortstop, as Will Brennan and Brayan Rocchio haven't hit particularly well despite seeing large roles this season.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Gets call-up to majors

The Guardians recalled Schneemann from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. He'll start at second base and bat eighth Sunday in his MLB debut against the Nationals. Though the 27-year-old Schneemann will take on a starting role in his first game with the Guardians, he's projected to fill a utility role for Cleveland after he saw action at second base, third base, shortstop, left field, center field, right field and designated hitter during his time at Columbus this season while slashing .294/.428/.556 with 10 home runs and four stolen bases across 223 plate appearances. The Guardians optioned outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
