Triolo (wrist) has gone 5-for-17 with two doubles, a walk, four RBI and two runs in four games since Triple-A Indianapolis reinstated him from the 7-day injured list May 9. Triolo missed the first month of the minor-league season while recovering from surgery to address a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. After completing a four-game rehab assignment with Single-A Bradenton earlier this month, the 25-year-old third baseman received the green light last week to rejoin the Pirates' top affiliate.... Pirates' Jared Triolo: Wrist surgery on tap
Triolo is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days to address a fractured hamate bone on one of his wrists, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. Triolo last appeared in Grapefruit League action for the Pirates on March 14, so he likely suffered the hand injury in that game or in a minor-league contest on the back fields at camp at some point over the past two weeks. The Pirates won't have a timeline for Triolo to make his 2023 debut until after surgery is completed, but the 25-year-old will more than likely be sidelined for at least the first month of the season. When healthy, Triolo is expected to play on an everyday basis at Triple-A Indianapolis.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Optioned to Triple-A
Triolo was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pirates on Tuesday. Triolo was 0-for-18 with four walks through 11 games this spring in Grapefruit League play, but he at least proved that the hyperextended left knee which plagued him down the stretch last year is no longer an issue. The 25-year-old might be able to climb to the MLB level at some point in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Healthy for spring training
Triolo (knee) played four innings at first base and went 0-for-1 with a walk Saturday in the Pirates' 9-7 loss to the Blue Jays in the Grapefruit League opener. Triolo, who was added to the Pirates' 40-man roster over the offseason, missed the final few weeks of Double-A Altoona's 2022 campaign while recovering from a hyperextended left knee. The 25-year-old is seemingly healthy again and could get the chance to make his MLB debut at some point in 2023 for the rebuilding Pirates, but he's likely to head to Triple-A Indianapolis at least for the start of the season. Per Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic, Triolo has played third base for most of his minor-league career but is expected to get exposure to the other corner-infield spot as well as shortstop and the outfield this spring.... Pirates' Jared Triolo: Joins 40-man roster
Triolo (knee) was added to Pittsburgh's 40-man roster Tuesday. Triolo spent the final month of 2022 on the injured list at Double-A Altoona with a hyperextended knee, but he still had a productive campaign with a .285/.378/.424 slash line and 24 steals in 112 games. The 24-year-old should move up to Triple-A Indianapolis at some point in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Goes on Altoona's IL
Double-A Altoona placed Triolo on its 7-day injured list Aug. 30 with a left knee injury, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. According to Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic, Triolo hyperextended the knee in an Aug. 28 game, when he stepped awkwardly on home plate. The Pirates haven't indicated whether Triolo has a realistic chance to play again this season. The injury is inconvenient timing for the 24-year-old, who had reached base in each of his last 16 games while slashing .354/.419/.646 with 10 extra-base hits and four stolen bases.... See More ...
