    The Phillies optioned Sweet to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Sweet -- who was acquired via trade over the offseason -- yielded three runs with a 5:3 K:BB in six innings this spring. The 28-year-old will provide bullpen depth at Lehigh Valley.

  • Phillies' Devin Sweet: Returns from triceps injury

    Sweet (triceps) threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout in Saturday's spring training loss to Detroit. He's thrown 1.2 scoreless innings this spring with no walks and one strikeout. Sweet left Tuesday's game after being struck in the right triceps by a line drive, but he looks back to full speed. Sweet spent the entire 2024 regular season with Triple-A Toledo. Across 52 outings (four starts), he posted a 3.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 111:38 K:BB across 76 innings. He's competing for a final bullpen spot this spring.

    Sweet cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo by the Tigers on Monday. He's no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Sweet held a 10.38 ERA in seven major-league appearances in 2023 but collected a 2.25 ERA and 57:11 K:BB over 44 innings between the Double- and Triple-A levels.

  • Tigers' Devin Sweet: Loses 40-man roster spot

    The Tigers designated Sweet for assignment Monday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. He'll cede his spot on the 40-man roster to infield prospect Colt Keith, who signed a six-year extension with Detroit over the weekend. Sweet has already been in three different organizations this offseason, and he'll now go through the waiver process once again. The reliever held a 10.38 ERA in seven appearances this past season with Oakland and Seattle in what was his first taste of the majors.

    Sweet was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. A 27-year-old reliever, Sweet walked as many as he struck out (six) while allowing 10 earned runs over 8.2 innings in the majors, split between stints with the Mariners and Athletics. He primarily pitched with Seattle's Double-A affiliate, logging a 1.54 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 35 innings during that assignment. Sweet has minor-league options remaining.

    Sweet has joined the Mariners in Chicago and could be recalled prior to the start of their series versus the White Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. The Mariners' bullpen is in need of reinforcements after Emerson Hancock lasted just two innings Sunday in Houston before exiting with a shoulder injury. Darren McCaughan has also joined the M's in Chicago and at least one of he or Sweet will be added to the roster as Hancock's replacement.

Sweet earned the promotion after collecting a 1.54 ERA and 47:8 K:BB over 35 innings at Arkansas. The 26-year-old will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.
