Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Moves up to High-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Volpe was promoted to High-A Hudson Valley on Tuesday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

New York's first-round pick in 2019, Volpe has been very impressive in 54 games with Low-A Tampa to start 2021, showing off both a high-upside bat and a solid glove. The 20-year-old shortstop slashed .302/.455/.623 with 12 homers and 49 RBI across 257 plate appearances. Volpe will now move on to Hudson Valley, where he'll look to continue his ascent through the Yankees' system.

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Red hot in Low-A ball
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Volpe is slashing .316/.444/.638 with 10 home runs, 45 RBI and 19 stolen bases for Low-A Tampa.

The Yankees' first-round pick in the 2019 first-year player draft has flashed both power and speed in his first campaign in A-ball while also walking more times (38) than he has struck out (37). He was especially hot in June, slashing .392/.515/.848 with seven homers and eight steals. The 20-year-old is regarded as a solid defensive shortstop, so he could ascend quickly through the organization's minor-league system if he continues to dominate offensively.

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Staying sharp at home during hiatus
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Volpe has been taking part in hitting and defensive drills at his home in New Jersey during MLB's hiatus, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Volpe, the Yankees' first-round draft choice last season, spent much of March in self-quarantine after two fellow minor leaguers tested positive for COVID-19 in spring camp. He has since taken to hitting into a net and lifting weights at his home, as well as working on his defensive mechanics with what he describes as "a ton of drills...that take up literally no space." The 19-year-old will look to bounce back from a difficult first season in rookie ball during which he batted .219 and came down with a bout of mononucleosis that ended his campaign early.

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Gets first career spring at-bat
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Volpe grounded out as a pinch hitter in Sunday's Grapefruit League loss to Detroit.

The Yankees' first-round pick in the 2019 draft entered for Gary Sanchez in the eighth inning and nearly collected a hit on a foul ball down the left-field line before grounding out to shortstop in his only at-bat. Volpe is 18 years old and hit .215 in rookie ball last year, so he is likely years away from being seriously considered for the big-league roster.

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Diagnosed with mononucleosis
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Volpe was sent to New Jersey to recover from a bout with mononucleosis, Jane Havsy of the Daily Record reports.

Volpe has been sidelined since Aug. 11 and has no announced timeline for his return. The Yankees' 2019 first-round draft pick is slashing .215/.349/.355 with two home runs and six steals through 34 games in rookie ball this year.
