Denny Hamlin: Michael Jordan owes me 4 words: 'You're better than me'
The Greatest of All Time has to give props to his friend and business associate who won at Chicagoland this weekend.
"You're better than me."
Denny Hamlin had himself quite a weekend. Not only did the 34-year-old win the first race of the NASCAR playoff season Sunday, but he earned the right to do something very few people ever have been able to: gloat over Michael Jordan. From USA Today:
After winning Sunday’s MyAFibRisk.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway and earning a spot in the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Hamlin said he's one up on the basketball Hall-of-Famer -- a friend and business associate of Hamlin's.
“Michael Jordan texted me Wednesday and said that he was in Monte Carlo and he was thinking about me,” Hamlin said. “I found that a little odd. But he told me he had never admitted that anybody was better at anything than him in his whole life and that he would admit that I'm a better driver than him if I won this week's race.
“So, I'm going to text him and say, ‘Admit it. I am better than you, and I want everyone to know.' "

If I were Hamlin, I'd force Jordan to send that in a voicemail, and then I would make that voice recording my ringtone. "Hi, I'm Michael Jordan, and Denny Hamlin is a better driver than I am." Then maybe some sort of dubstep bass drop.
Also, Jordan never admitted anyone was better then him at anything? He's met US Presidents, football MVPs and some of the brightest minds in the world. But forget all of that. He's met other NBA owners who would be able to say they're better owners than him. That's not exactly a stretch.
I mean, the man drafted Frank Kaminsky. (Just kidding, Kaminsky might be good. But still.)
