Draymond Green avoids jail time with plea deal in misdemeanor assault case
Warriors star won't face trial or jail time for East Lansing incident
After facing criminal misdemeanor charges stemming from an East Lansing incident involving a Michigan State football player on July 11, Golden State Warriors All-Star Draymond Green reached a plea deal with prosecutors that will help the Warriors All-Star avoid jail time, WDIV in Detroit reported Friday:
In a statement Friday, the city of East Lansing said Green's attorney presented the signed agreement after a court hearing Thursday. The plea deal reduces the charge to a civil infraction, which carries a penalty of a $500 fine and $60 in jail restitution. All are on conditions that Green avoids any further criminal offenses and has no contact with the victim for one year.

Green will avoid jail time and community service with the charge and can put the ordeal behind him as Team USA gets set for Olympic group play in early August. Green's accuser told TMZ that the incident "changed his life," so it's not known yet whether a civil suit will be filed after the criminal charges are dismissed.
Green played four years at Michigan State, reaching two Final Fours under Tom Izzo before being drafted in the second round by the Warriors.
