Lakers interested in Leandro Barbosa?

Anybody want a former Sixth Man of the Year?

Brazilian guard Leandro Barbosa remains unsigned and still is searching for an offer. But according to Barbosa, some teams are showing interest.

"Among others, I'm talking with the Phoenix Suns, the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers. Steve Nash even texted me because he wants me there," Barbosa told UOL Esporte via translation from HoopsHype.

You can remove the Nets from the conversation because they just signed Josh Childress as their 15th man. But the Lakers and Suns probably could get something out of the 29-year-old guard.

Barbosa showed during the Summer Olympics that he definitely still has some game and that he still can contribute.

The Lakers did sign 3-point marksman Jodie Meeks this summer, which shored up their depth at the 2-guard. But adding a little more help makes enough sense. The Lakers have some health concerns and age issues, so having an extra scorer on the roster to step in might be wise.

The Suns definitely could use Barbosa's services. At shooting guard they're extremely thin and their bench lacks punch. Currently their starting 2-guard is Wesley Johnson (or Shannon Brown), which means help is certainly needed. And Barbosa has a history in Phoenix having played his first seven NBA seasons with the Suns.

Last season, Barbosa appeared in 64 games with the Raptors and Pacers and averaged 11.1 points per game.
