Celtics guard Rajon Rondo hinted at a return Friday against the Lakers by tweeting "29,233,380 secs," which equates to 338 days, the span of time between his ACL surgery on Feb. 13, 2013 and Jan. 17, 2014.
Of course, when a report surfaced last Friday that Rondo was targeting a Jan. 17 report, he flat out denied it. Head coach Brad Stevens said before Monday's game when asked whether Rondo's return would come this week that "I’d be guessing. I think you could say possibly. It wouldn’t be anything where I would be speaking with certainty."
Rondo averaged 13.7 points, 11.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 38 games last season before suffering his ACL injury. Even if he doesn't make it back Friday, it appears his return can be measured in days instead of weeks.
