Oh, you're the new guy? Cool. Trade me, bro.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has reportedly requested a trade to the Brooklyn Nets, according to Howard reportedly made the request to new Magic GM Rob Hennigan, who was hired just last week.

Howard and Hennigan sat down face to face in Los Angeles, meeting for the first time since Hennigan became Orlando's GM nearly two weeks ago.

Hennigan was noncommital when Howard told him he wants to be traded to Brooklyn, sources said. Hennigan did not tell Howard whether he would trade him. His intentions were merely to hear the thoughts of the Magic superstar.

Yahoo Sports reported later on Saturday that the Magic will "seriously consider" trade offers for Howard and that the team has "reach out" to potential partners around the league.

Within his first few days on the job, Hennigan cleaned house, firing a number of Magic executives and scouts and replacing them with his hand-picked assistants.

The Nets were one of the teams on Howard's short list when he publicly requested a trade back in December. He's been linked to the franchise in rumors as part of a package that would pair him with free agent All-Star point guard Deron Williams, who will reportedly sign with either the Nets or the Dallas Mavericks once the July free agency period opens.

Howard ultimately was not traded by the Magic and instead opted-in to the 2012-13 year of his contract with the team. Things turned ugly down the stretch, though. Howard wound up having back surgery and missed Orlando's playoff run. Then, former coach Stan Van Gundy was fired and the team "parted ways" with former GM Otis Smith.

The Magic have yet to hire a replacement for Van Gundy and also face a decision on how much to pay restricted free agent forward Ryan Anderson, who was issued a qualifying offer this week.

Meanwhile, the Nets are reportedly eyeing a possible trade for Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson.
