Spurs G Patty Mills out for Finals with foot abscess
Spurs G Patty Mills will miss the remainder of the NBA Finals vs. the Miami Heat after surgery to remove an abscess in his right foot.
The Spurs are having guard maladies all over as the NBA Finals push on. Reserve point guard Patty Mills was placed on the inactive list for Nando De Colo before Game 4, and on Sunday, the Spurs announced that Mills will miss the remainder of the Finals with an abscess between his toes.
(Yes, gross.)
The San Antonio Spurs today announced that guard Patty Mills will miss the remainder of the 2013 NBA Finals. Mills had an infection in his right foot and, in turn, an abscess developed between his fourth and fifth toes. The abscess was removed during a short out-patient surgery on Friday afternoon.

Mills' biggest job during the Finals has been as a celebratory bench player, best known as the most active towel-waver on the Spurs in recent years. But with Tony Parker hobbled with a hamstring, and the inexperience of Cory Joseph, it's still not a good thing to lose a bench player, particularly to something like a foot infection.
The Spurs face the Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Sunday night.
