  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Returns to bench

Griffin isn't starting Monday's game against the Thunder, Keith Smith of reports. Griffin filled in for Al Horford (back) on Saturday against the Pistons, but he'll head back to a reserve role with Horford cleared to return. Griffin is averaging 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in four games off the bench this season.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Starting Saturday

Griffin will start Saturday's game at Detroit, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports. With Al Horford (back) out, Griffin will get the nod at center. In his previous start, he played 15 minutes and posted seven points, two assists and one rebound. Noah Vonleh and Luke Kornet should also see increased run at center.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Back in bench role

Griffin will come off the bench Monday night against the Grizzlies. Griffin drew a spot start for Al Horford on Saturday against the Knicks, but he'll revert to his usual bench role with Horford back in action Monday evening.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Starting for sitting Horford

Griffin will start Saturday's game against the Knicks, Abby Chin of NBC Sports Boston reports. Al Horford (back) is out, and Griffin is getting his first start of the year. He hasn't played more than 12 minutes in a game this season, though, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much from the veteran. In 35 total minutes, he's racked up 10 points, 11 boards, three assists and two steals.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Grabs four boards in loss

Griffin generated two points (0-2 FG), four rebounds and one assists over five minutes in Monday's 120-102 loss in Chicago. Griffin's five minutes of run came in garbage time, as the Celtics were blown out by the Bulls. It appears that well-traveled Noah Vonleh has passed Griffin on Boston's big-man depth chart. Vonleh's rugged interior defense and rebounding have been a pleasant surprise for the Celtics. Griffin, a six-time All Star, seems comfortable in his reserve role. At this late point in the 33-year-old's career, one suspects he's happy to contribute modest minutes for a team with legitimate Finals aspirations.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Unassuming performance Friday

Griffin managed just six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds in 11 minutes during Friday's preseason loss to Toronto. Griffin joined the Celtics less than a month ago, coming in as a veteran piece off the bench. While he could feature in the rotation on a nightly basis, he is simply too fragile to play more than about 15 minutes per night. Obviously, his fantasy days are well behind him and there is no reason to think that will change moving forward.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Making preseason debut Friday

Griffin (coach's decision) indicated Friday that he'll play in the evening's preseason game against the Hornets, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports. Despite being listed as available, Griffin didn't appear in Wednesday's preseason contest against the Raptors. Still, it sounds like he's expecting to play roughly 10 minutes in his debut with the Celtics on Friday. The veteran had the worst statistical output of his career last season with the Nets, appearing in 56 games while averaging 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17.1 minutes per contest. With Robert Williams (knee) not expected back until late November at the earliest, Griffin should have a role in Boston's frontcourt rotation during the early portion of the regular season.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Doesn't play Wednesday

Griffin (coach's decision) was on the bench for Wednesday's preseason loss to the Raptors but didn't record any minutes. Griffin was deemed available for the contest shortly before tipoff, but he didn't see any action Wednesday after just signing with the team last week. It's unclear if Griffin will play in Friday's preseason tilt against the Hornets, but even if he's available, it's unlikely he sees significant minutes right away.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Available to make debut

Griffin (undisclosed) is available for Wednesday's preseason versus the Raptors, but he will be a game-time decision, John Karalis of reports. There is no indication that Griffin is suffering from any injury. However, the 33-year-old will likely be eased into Boston's rotation after just signing with the team Sept. 30. Griffin should be ready to go once the regular season begins Oct. 18.

  • Celtics' Blake Griffin: Inks one-year deal with Boston

The Celtics signed Griffin to a one-year contract Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Celtics signed Danilo Gallinari this offseason to fortify their frontcourt depth, but he tore the ACL in his left knee while playing for the Italian national team in EuroBasket 2022 in late August, likely ending his 2022-23 campaign before it began. Boston also is expected to be without Robert Williams, who's set to miss the first couple months of the season following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, so Griffin figures to slide into a reserve role behind Al Horford and Grant Williams. Griffin will compete with Luke Kornet and Sam Hauser for reserve minutes, but both of those players are floor-stretchers, so look for Griffin to serve as the top defensive big man off Boston's bench to start the season.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Puts up eight points off bench

Griffin logged eight points (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and one block in eight minutes during Saturday's 109-103 loss to the Celtics. Griffin, who had been out of the rotation, came out of nowhere and drilled two consecutive three-pointers during what can only be described as a fourth-quarter experiment by head coach Steve Nash. The 33-year-old was visibly gassed after only a few minutes of court time, although he did well in his limited action. His flurry of activity hints at potential for an increased presence in Monday's Game 4.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Cleared for Game 3

Griffin (ankle) will be available for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports. Griffin has effectively been removed from the Nets' rotation since early March, so his availability is not expected to impact the rotation.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Questionable for Game 3

Griffin is questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics due to a sprained left ankle, Chris Milholen of reports. The injury won't affect the Nets' gameplan. He's been effectively out of the rotation since early March.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Returns to rotation Monday

Griffin logged nine points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one block across 20 minutes during Monday's 114-106 victory over the Jazz. After being a healthy DNP in seven of the Nets' past eight contests, Griffin returned to the rotation Monday with Andre Drummond (illness) sidelined. While his numbers weren't prolific, the former Sooner was efficient and productive across 20 minutes of action -- his most since Feb. 12. If Drummond is ruled out again, Griffin figures to garner a similar role during Wednesday's contest against the Grizzlies.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Logs 19 bench minutes in loss

Griffin amassed nine points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes during Tuesday's 109-108 loss to the Raptors. Griffin saw some additional playing time with Andre Drummond sidelined due to a knee injury. Unfortunately, he was unable to make the most of the upgrade, reinforcing just why he can't be considered a viable option outside of the deepest fantasy leagues. At this point in his career, Griffin merely serves as a third-string option who rarely sees meaningful minutes.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Gets only three minutes

Griffin played three minutes off the bench in Monday's 109-85 win over the Kings, recording no statistics during his time on the court. With LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) returning from a seven-game absence and the newly acquired Andre Drummond making his Nets debut, Griffin was effectively cut out of the rotation. After checking in for Aldridge with just under a minute remaining in the first quarter, Griffin played the first two minutes of the second quarter before heading to the bench for the rest of the night. Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) could also be part of the mix at center whenever the Nets are fully comfortable with his health, so Griffin looks like he'll find himself as the fourth option on the depth chart moving forward.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Returns to bench role

Griffin isn't starting Monday's game against the Kings, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Griffin had started each of Brooklyn's last four contests, but it'll be Andre Drummond who gets the start at center Monday evening. The Oklahoma product is averaging 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his last seven contests as a reserve.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Just misses double-double Thursday

Griffin scored 15 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT) while adding nine rebounds, three assists and a steal in 27 minutes during Thursday's 113-112 loss to the Wizards. Making his third straight start, Griffin came one board short of recording his second double-double of the season. The veteran big is seeing an increased role with Kevin Durant (knee) and LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) sidelined, but Griffin could see his workload decline once trade acquisition Andre Drummond is ready to join the lineup.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Produces season-high 19 points

Griffin had 19 points (7-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists across 30 minutes during Sunday's 124-104 loss to Denver. Griffin made his first start since mid-December in the absence of Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) and LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle), and he drained five triples while delivering a season high in points. The 32-year-old was reduced to a minor role in Brooklyn's rotation in early January, but he's seen more consistent playing time lately and should continue to do so while Claxton and Aldridge remain banged up.

  • Nets' Blake Griffin: Joins starting five

Griffin will start Sunday against the Nuggets, Billy Reinhardt of reports. Griffin will make his first start since Dec. 18 with Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) and LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) sitting out Sunday. Griffin and Day'Ron Sharpe figure to split time at center for the Nets.
