His signing was likely done to create a pathway for him to the Stockton Kings of the G League.

Though Atlanta entered Monday's game without eight players due to injury or COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the returns of Kevin Huerter and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot were enough to cushion the loss of Iwundu on the wing.

    Iwundu (conditioning) will be available for Wednesday's contest against the Bulls, Mike Conti of the Atlanta Hawks Radio Network reports. Iwundu cleared the league's health and safety protocols Wednesday and will immediately be available for the Hawks. The 6-foot-7 forward has only made one appearance for Atlanta since signing a 10-day contract Dec. 22. During that contest, he notched two points and five rebounds across 23 minutes. He will likely have a similar workload against the Bulls, as the Hawks currently have 11 players sidelined due to the NBA's COVID-19 protocols.
