  • Brandon Goodwin: Sent to waivers

Goodwin was waived by the Knicks on Saturday. Goodwin agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with New York on Thursday, and the team now has ownership of his G League rights. He'll be a candidate to see time with the Westchester Knicks during the 2023-24 season.

  • Brandon Goodwin: Headed to New York

The Knicks signed Goodwin to an Exhibit 10 contract Thursday. Goodwin made 31 appearances for the Cavaliers in 2021-22, averaging 4.8 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 13.9 minutes. He will likely spend the 2023-24 campaign with the Knicks' G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Logs all-around stat line

Goodwin logged 31 points (12-27 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, five steals and three assists across 38 minutes during Sunday's 120-110 loss to the Westchester Knicks. Goodwin became a part of Cleveland's G League team again after averaging 8.3 minutes across 11 NBA games during March. While with the Charge, he will be their starting point guard and receive multiple chances to log stat lines like his one from Sunday.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Reappears in loss

Goodwin logged eight points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-5 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal over 14 minutes during Wednesday's 118-114 loss to Philadelphia. Goodwin offered support off the bench in what was nearly an impressive comeback victory for Cleveland. Since logging a 17-point, 12-assist double-double in place of Darius Garland Feb. 28, Goodwin had averaged 1.0 points and 1.8 assists across six prior contests. His bigger impact Wednesday was encouraging, but he remains nothing more than a contingency option in Cleveland.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Moves out of rotation

Goodwin (coach's decision) went unused off the Cavaliers bench in Tuesday's 127-124 win over the Pacers. Since Darius Garland returned from a brief absence earlier this month, Goodwin had settled in as the top backup at point guard, playing between five and 14 minutes in the Cavs' previous three contests. However, with Rajon Rondo (toe) back in action Tuesday following a five-game absence, Goodwin was bounced out of the rotation entirely. Goodwin doesn't look like he'll be a regular on the second unit again anytime soon, and he'll have an even tougher time earning minutes once Caris LeVert (foot) is cleared to play.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Moving back to bench

Goodwin will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against Charlotte, Evan Dammarell of Locked On Cavs reports. Goodwin has made five spot starts in place of Darius Garland over the last month, but with Garland set to return from a back injury Wednesday, he'll move back to his usual bench role. The Cavs are still without Rajon Rondo (toe) and Caris LeVert (foot), however, so Goodwin should be in line for a decent workload off the bench. In Monday's 127-122 loss to Minnesota, Goodwin posted 17 points, a career-high 12 assists, four rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Career-high 12 assists in start

Goodwin closed with 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 assists, four rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes during Monday's 127-122 loss to the Timberwolves. Making his second consecutive start in the absences of Darius Garland (back), Caris LeVert (foot) and Rajon Rondo (toe), Goodwin turned in an impressive double-double. After going just 2-for-11 from the field in his previous start Saturday against the Wizards, Goodwin verified he's capable of producing in a starting role. He's a streaming candidate until at least one of Garland, Levert or Rondo returns.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Starting Saturday

Goodwin is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Wizards. With Darius Garland (back) and Rajon Rondo (toe) sidelined, Goodwin is set to make his fourth start at point guard for the Cavs. The 26-year-old is averaging 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists across 16.4 minutes per game this season.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Strong production off bench

Goodwin finished Thursday's 106-103 loss to the Pistons with 15 points (6-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 24 minutes. Goodwin led the second unit in scoring and minutes played. He also facilitated well, joining Rajon Rondo as the only Cavaliers to record more than two assists. He inherits a respectable workload in backup point guard duties when Darius Garland (back) misses time. Goodwin is streamable Saturday against the Wizards.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Available Wednesday

Goodwin (illness) is available for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Goodwin started the past three games and was questionable for Wednesday due to an illness, and he'll be available off the bench with Darius Garland (back) rejoining the lineup. Goodwin should see a significant reduction in playing time with Caris LeVert, who was recently acquired from Indiana, making his debut for Cleveland.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Recalled, questionable vs. Spurs

Goodwin was recalled from the G League and is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Spurs due to an illness. With Darius Garland (back) questionable and Caris LeVert (recently traded) potentially making his debut, Goodwin's role could be reduced even if he's available. He's started his past three games, but a shift back to the bench would mean competing for backup minutes at point guard with Rajon Rondo and possibly even LeVert.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Sent to G League

Goodwin was transferred to the G League's Cleveland Charge on Tuesday, Spencer Davies of reports. With Darius Garland (back) sidelined, Goodwin has seen an increased role for the Cavaliers over the past four games. During that stretch, he's drawn three starts and averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 27.8 minutes per game. However, Goodwin and Dylan Windler are both expected to suit up for the Charge when they face the Raptors 905 on Tuesday, which may suggest that Garland could be nearing a return to game action.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Solid performance sans Garland

Goodwin had 12 points (4-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt), five rebounds, nine assists and four steals in 36 minutes during Friday's 102-101 victory over the Hornets. Goodwin continues to play well in the absence of Darius Garland (back). Over his last three contests (two starts), the fourth-year guard has averaged 13.3 points, 6.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 31.7 minutes per game. It's unclear when Garland may return, but Goodwin appears to have carved out a sizable role in the meantime.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Will start Wednesday

Goodwin will join the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rockets, Evan Dammarell of WKYC 3 News Cleveland reports. After recording a career-high 21 points Monday, Goodwin will start Wednesday in place of Darius Garland, who is out once again with a back injury. Cedi Osman ran the point for most of Monday's matchup leading to just one assist for Goodwin, so the 26-year-old may be able to show off more of his playmaking skills Wednesday. If Goodwin can stay hot and put on another performance like Monday's, he may find himself in line for a more stable spot in the rotation.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Delivers career-high 21 points

Goodwin registered 21 points (8-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 27 minutes during Monday's 93-90 victory over the Pelicans. Goodwin has moved back and forth between the NBA and the G League since inking a two-way deal Jan. 9, but he was up with the Cavaliers on Monday with Darius Garland (back) sitting out the contest. Though Cedi Osman (career-high 12 assists) started at point guard and handled most of Garland's responsibilities as a distributor, Goodwin stepped in to fill the scoring void. The 21 points were a new career high for Goodwin, but unless the Cavaliers elect to remove Rajon Rondo from the rotation, Goodwin may not have a regular spot on the second unit once Garland is back in action.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Heads to G League

Goodwin was transferred to the G League's Cleveland Charge on Friday, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports. Russo reports that Goodwin will suit up for the Charge when they face the Grand Rapids Gold on Friday. His only action in the G League this season came when he was with the Westchester Knicks. In seven appearances, he averaged 15.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 35.1 minutes.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Upgraded to two-way deal

The Cavaliers converted Goodwin's 10-day contract to a two-way deal Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. He'll fill the two-way slot that previously belonged to center Tacko Fall, who was waived in a corresponding move. The addition of Goodwin on a longer-term pact should help the Cavaliers restore some depth in the backcourt as the team looks to overcome the season-ending injuries to Collin Sexton (knee) and Ricky Rubio (knee). Since signing his 10-day deal Dec. 31, Goodwin has appeared in three of the Cavaliers' subsequent four games while averaging 7.3 points, 4.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 23.0 minutes.

  • Cavaliers' Brandon Goodwin: Joins Cleveland via hardship

Goodwin signed a 10-day hardship contract with the Cavaliers on Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Goodwin recently had a 10-day contract with the Raptors nixed as he was unable to pass his COVID-19 intake screening. The 6-foot guard will attempt to add depth to the Cavaliers' backcourt after they lost Ricky Rubio (knee) for the season.

  • Brandon Goodwin: Deal with Toronto nixed

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said prior to Sunday's 144-99 loss to the Cavaliers that Goodwin was unable to finalize a 10-day contract with Toronto after he was unable to pass his COVID-19 intake screening, Michael Grange of reports. After returning to action following the NBA's decision to postpone Toronto's game Wednesday against the Bulls, the Raptors had only eight players available after two of the players the team targeted for 10-day deals via hardship exemptions -- Goodwin and Nik Stauskas -- were unable to pass their respective screenings. Goodwin is thus expected to return to his G League club, the Westchester Knicks, once he clears the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

  • Brandon Goodwin: Dishes 13 dimes in G League

Goodwin played 36 minutes for Westchester in a loss to Delaware on Friday, finishing with two points (1-8 FG, 0-5 3Pt), 13 assists, seven rebounds and two steals. Goodwin couldn't find his stroke in the contest, posting just two points following a season-high 33-point effort his previous time on the court. However, the 26-year-old tallied a campaign-best 13 assists and tied his high mark with seven rebounds. Goodwin's 41.9 percent field-goal rate could be an obstacle in his path to return to the NBA, though he has shown a strong all-around skill set with season G League averages of 15.3 points, 7.0 dimes, 5.1 boards, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.9 steals.
