Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Exercises player option for 2022-23
Mykhailiuk exercised his $1.9 million player option for the 2022-23 campaign, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Mykhailiuk made 56 appearances for the Raptors last season and averaged 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds across 12.8 minutes per game. It'll be difficult for the 2018 second-round pick to garner a bigger role during the 2022-23 campaign if he continues to struggle from distance after shooting a career-low 30.3 percent during his first year in Toronto.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Returns to NBA team
Toronto recalled Mykhailiuk from the G League's Raptors 905 on Wednesday, Vivek Jacob of the Raptors' official site reports.
Mykhailiuk will rejoin the NBA squad as the Raptors prepare for a matchup Thursday against one of his former teams (Detroit). The 24-year-old turned in a 40-point performance for the 905 in Wednesday's win over the College Park Skyhawks, but the offensive outburst likely won't do much for his chances of earning a regular role in the NBA rotation.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Scores 40 points in G League win
Mykhailiuk dropped 40 points (11-23 FG, 7-16 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist across 39 minutes in Wednesday's 128-104 victory over the College Park Skyhawks.
Mykhailiuk played his first G League game in three years Wednesday, but he was immediately back in his element as he led the game in scoring and shot an impressive 47.8 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from deep. He didn't offer much else besides his scoring, but the G League will now be on notice every time he suits up for 905.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Shipped to G League
Toronto assigned Mykhailiuk to the G League's Raptors 905 on Wednesday, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.
Mykhailiuk and rookie Dalano Banton were sent down to the G League to play in the 905's matchup with the College Park Skyhawks on Wednesday, but both could be back with Toronto in short order. Regardless, Mykhailiuk isn't part of head coach Nick Nurse's rotation, so his potential absence when the Raptors return to action Thursday versus Detroit wouldn't affect how the minutes are divvied out on the wing.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Gets 14 minutes Sunday
Mykhailiuk scored seven points (2-3 FG, 3-3 FT) and added two rebounds and one assist across 14 minutes off the bench in Sunday's 105-101 win over the Pelicans.
Mykhailiuk was making his second appearance since exiting the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols Friday, but he likely wouldn't have been included in the rotation had Gary Trent (ankle) not sat out the contest. The Raptors list Trent as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Suns, so Mykhailiuk could once again be in line to fill a minor role on the second unit.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Available Friday
Mykhailiuk (COVID-19 protocols) is off the injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Jazz, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.
Mykhailiuk has missed the past two Raptors games but is returning Friday. Over his past five appearances, he's averaged 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.8 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Enters protocols Tuesday
Mykhailiuk entered COVID-19 protocols Tuesday, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.
Both Mykhailiuk and Yuta Watanabe became the latest Raptors players to enter protocols, so they'll likely miss at least Toronto's next three games. Mykhailiuk picked up extra minutes while several regulars were stranded in protocols, but he saw just 22 combined minutes in the Raptors' last two contests, so his absence shouldn't carry major fantasy ramifications this week.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Returns to bench role
Mykhailiuk will come off the bench Tuesday against the 76ers, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports.
Mykhailiuk started Sunday against Cleveland and had 10 points (4-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in 36 minutes, and he'll return to the bench with Pascal Siakam and Gary Trent back from the COVID-19 protocols. The Raptors are still significantly short-handed, so Mykhailiuk should still see plenty of action as a reserve Tuesday.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Raptors-Bulls postponed Wednesday
Mykhailiuk and the Raptors won't play the Bulls on Wednesday after the NBA postponed the game due to Toronto not having the league-required eight available players for that contest, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Toronto had 12 players listed as out for the contest, including eight members of the roster who are in the NBA's health and safety protocols. After the postponement, the Raptors aren't scheduled to play again until Sunday in Cleveland, where the team will still likely be down several players. With that in mind, Mykhailiuk could be in store for a sizable role when Toronto returns to action.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Back to bench
Mykhailiuk will come off the bench Thursday against the Bucks.
With Gary Trent (calf) returning to the starting five, Mykhailiuk will come off the bench. In his 18 appearances as a reserve, he's averaged 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 16.1 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Will start Tuesday
Mykhailiuk will start Tuesday against the Grizzlies, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports.
Mykhailiuk will start his second straight game in place of Gary Trent (calf). During Sunday's 109-97 loss, the 2018 second-round pick played a season-high 38 minutes and notched 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Drops 10 points off bench
Mykhailiuk recorded 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one steal during Wednesday's loss to Boston.
Mykhailiuk reached double digits for a fourth time this season. Besides scoring 10 points, however, the guard was a nonfactor elsewhere, as Mykhailiuk failed to grab a rebound for a second straight game after hauling in a total of 32 prior to Sunday's loss to Brooklyn.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Enters starting lineup
Mykhailiuk will start Monday's game against the Knicks, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
Scottie Barnes (thumb) will miss his first game of the season and Pascal Siakam (shoulder) remains sidelined, so Mykhailiuk will make his first start for the Raptors. The 24-year-old is coming off his most productive outing of the season, as he put up 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes Saturday versus the Pacers.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Solid effort in win
Mykhailiuk finished Monday's win over the Knicks with 15 points (5-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Making his first start of the season in place of Scottie Barnes (thumb), Mykhailiuk took full advantage of the opportunity, playing a season-high 22 minutes and posting easily his best all-around line in quite some time. When the Raptors are at full strength, Mykhailiuk will likely remain in a 15-to-20-minute role off the bench, but he's a player to consider targeting in DFS contests when the Raptors are without any of their key guards or wings.... Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Scores 16 points
Mykhailiuk recorded 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes during a 97-94 win Saturday at Indiana.
Mykhailiuk's scoring total was easily a season high, as he hadn't scored more than eight points in any of his previous six appearances. The Kansas product continues to see consistent run off the bench, but he's unlikely to be much of a fantasy factor in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Plays well in preseason
Mykhailiuk averaged 9.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 20.3 minutes during his five preseason appearances.
Mykhailiuk should be a rotation player for the Raptors this season, especially while Pascal Siakam (shoulder) is sidelined. He's a career 36.2 percent three-point shooter who has shown some upside as a passer.... See More ... See Less
Raptors' Svi Mykhailiuk: Joining Toronto
Mykhailiuk agreed Saturday to a two-year contract with the Raptors, with the second season being a player option, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The sharpshooter reportedly had interest from contenders, but he signed with Toronto presumably with the hope of seeing more playing time. He's been on three teams -- the Pistons, Lakers and Thunder -- since being drafted 47th overall in 2018. He's a career 36.2 percent three-point shooter but has also shown some playmaking upside with 3.0 assists per 36 minutes. It seems feasible for Mykhailiuk to potentially see 20 minutes per game as a backup at both shooting guard and small forward. However, he'll be competing with other reserves like Malachi Flynn and Goran Dragic.... See More ... See Less
