Markkanen returned to the floor after missing the last two contests due to injury. He has been on fire as of late, and Wednesday marked his third consecutive double-double. Markkanen has gone for over 20 points in 14 consecutive contests and is putting together the best season of his career. He has been a great fantasy option and will remain so as long as his role on offense continues.... See More ... See Less -

Markkanen (hip) is available for Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Markkanen missed back-to-back games due to a hip injury and was initially listed as questionable for Wednesday, but the talented big man has since been cleared and will presumably return to the starting lineup against Los Angeles. Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Deemed questionable Wednesday
Markkanen (hip) is considered questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Clippers, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Markkanen has been listed as questionable in each of the last two games before being ruled out, so his listing doesn't really provide much information about his availability Wednesday. The team should provide another update on his status prior to the 9 PM ET tipoff, with Jarred Vanderbilt, Rudy Gay and Talen Horton-Tucker, among others, likely to see expanded run if he sits again.... Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Ruled out Monday
Markkanen (hip) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Timberwolves, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. Markkanen was considered a game-time decision for Monday's game as he continues to deal with a hip injury, and he'll be unavailable for a second consecutive matchup. Jarred Vanderbilt, Rudy Gay and Talen Horton-Tucker are candidates to see increased run against Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -

Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Ruled out Saturday

Markkanen was tabbed as questionable for the contest after picking up a left hip contusion Friday and will ultimately be sidelined for Saturday's tilt. Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Questionable Saturday
Markkanen is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the 76ers due to a left hip contusion, Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Markkanen presumably suffered the injury in Friday's 112-108 victory over the Magic. He accumulated 28 points (4-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 17-21 FT), 12 rebounds, two rebounds, one steal and one block across 36 minutes in the contest. The 25-year-old's status will depend on how he is feeling closer to tipoff, but Talen Horton-Tucker and Ochai Agbaji would be candidates to see increased run if he ultimately has to sit out.... Markkanen has made hay at the free-throw line over the Jazz's last two games, converting 29 of 35 attempts (82.8 percent) during that span to help bring his streak of 20-plus-point performances to 13. The 25-year-old remains in the thick of the conversation for a reserve spot in the All-Star Game while he's in the midst of a career-best season that has helped make the 22-23 Jazz surprisingly competitive in what was expected to be a rebuilding year.... Markkanen was unable to find his shooting touch in this one, but he still managed to finish with 25 points. He also cleaned up on the glass by securing 13 of his 16 rebounds on the defensive end. His breakout season continues, as he currently sits inside the top 15 in 12-team leagues. He has scored at least 28 points in six consecutive appearances, adding double-digit rebounds three times. Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Notches 28 points in loss
Markkanen recorded 28 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 15-15 FT), eight rebounds and one assist over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 117-115 loss to Sacramento. Though Markkanen appeared to send the game to overtime when he fielded an in-bound pass and threw up a last-second heave that went in the basket, officials ruled that the forward's shot came after the clock ticked to zero. As such, Markkanen missed out on a 30-point outing, but he still kept the Jazz in the game throughout and finished with another stellar stat line. Even though the 19-21 Jazz have slid down the standings after a hot start to the season, Markkanen's career-best campaign continues. He's scored no fewer than 18 points over his last 10 games, averaging 28.6 per game over that stretch while shooting 53 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from downtown and 93.2 percent from the charity stripe.... Markkanen scored 23 of his game-high 36 points in the second half on 11-of-15 shooting from the field, but his valiant effort on offense still wasn't enough as the Jazz fell to Sacramento on the road for their third straight loss. It was Markkanen's ninth game this season with 30 or more points, though he failed to knock down more than one three in the contest for the first time since Nov. 21.... See More ... See Less -

Utah fell short despite a spirited comeback bid, but Markkanen nonetheless submitted one of his best performances of the campaign. The veteran forward finished with his 12th double-double and his eighth scoring effort of 30-plus points. Markkanen also swatted a pair of shots in the defeat, marking the fourth time this season he's registered multiple blocks in a game.... See More ... See Less -

Markkanen was a man on a mission Tuesday, matching his career high with 38 points, including nine triples. His breakout season continues, logging career-high numbers across the board. The Jazz have been arguably the most surprising team thus far, currently sitting at eighth place in the Western Conference with a 18-16 record. Markkanen has been leading from the front and should continue chugging along at top-30 pace for the rest of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Solid in Monday's loss
Markkanen registered 24 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-10 FT), six rebounds, one assist and two steals across 32 minutes during Monday's 122-99 loss to Cleveland. In the head-to-head matchup with Donovan Mitchell, the player he was traded for in the offseason, Markkanen came out one point ahead, but Mitchell's Cavs won the war. Markkanen has looked good since missing three games earlier this month with a non-COVID illness, averaging 23.0 points, 6.5 boards, 3.3 threes and 1.8 assists over the last four contests.... Eric Walden@tribjazz1D agoThough some have found it curious that Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen has taken such a leap forward in his sixth season, at the age of 25, colleagues and opponents alike say the idea of a player being “what he is by 22” isn’t really real. https://t.co/6AU4cBkjfk

Eric Walden@tribjazz2D agoFINAL: Blazers 134, Jazz 124. Utah shoots 52.2% overall, 20-41 from 3, 32 assists on 47 buckets, seven players in double-digit scoring, led by Markkanen's 24 … and none of it mattered. Portland shoots 57.3%, score 19/47/36/32 by period, and Dame drops 60p/8a/7r.

Eric Walden@tribjazz2D agoHALFTIME: Blazers 66, Jazz 64. Vando buries a dead-ass serious 3, but then Little beats the horn with a triple of his own. Good as Utah's defense was in 1Q, it was so bad in 2Q, allowing 47p on 16-22 shooting. Dame has 26p on 6-8 from deep. For the Jazz, Markkanen has 12p.
-
Tony Jones@Tjonesonthenba2D agoNas Little hits a three at the buzzer and Portland leads Utah 66-64 at the half. Dame has 26. Just on fire the entire half. Markkanen leads Utah with 12

Eric Walden@tribjazz2D agoEnd 1Q: Jazz 31, Blazers 19. Great defense from Utah in the opening period — Portland shoots just 9-26 overall, 1-9 from deep. Jazz go 11-21, 6-9. Sexton shooting confidently — 9p on 3-4/3-3. Markkanen 7p. Lillard 9p for the Blazers, but Simons 0p on 0-5 shooting.
-
Tony Jones@Tjonesonthenba2D agoThat was good officiating at the 45 second mark. Markkanen got mugged with no call on one end, and then Simons got mugged with no call on the other. They both should’ve been fouls, but if you don’t call one, be consistent and don’t call the other
