Theis posted 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, an assist and two steals across 21 minutes in Monday's 106-104 preseason win over the Magic.
There are several positives to extract out of Theis' first start with New Orleans, as he co-led the team in minutes played while being just one of two starters who scored in double digits. However, and perhaps even more importantly, he outplayed rookie Yves Missi in both production and time on the court, with Missi logging 16 minutes off the bench and putting up five points, five rebounds, two steals and a block. It's only one game in preseason, but it seems Theis has a leg up in the race to open the regular season as New Orleans' starting center.

Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Perfect from field in win
Rotowire
Theis tallied 18 points (7-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and one steal across 20 minutes in Germany's 97-77 win over Japan in the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Theis impressed with his performance against Japan, racking up a team-high seven boards while shooting 100 percent from the field. The 32-year-old will likely play a significant role in Germany's Olympic campaign, which is also his first appearance at the Olympics. Theis will be asked to excel on the glass and the defensive side of the ball, especially as the squad still has yet to play France's spectacular frontcourt in the group phase.

Rotowire
Theis (thumb) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Cleveland, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
Theis is dealing with a sprained thumb on his non-shooting hand, which will sideline him Sunday. Tucker to fill the backup center minutes behind Ivica Zubac.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Dealing with thumb sprain
Rotowire
Theis is questionable for Sunday's game against Cleveland due to a left thumb sprain.
Theis being added to Sunday's injury report in advance of the Clippers' 3:30 p.m. ET tipoff puts his status in jeopardy. Ivica Zubac and Mason Plumlee would split Theis' workload if he's unable to suit up, with Theis having logged 18 and 17 minutes in the Clippers' past two contests, respectively.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Not on injury report
Rotowire
Theis (knee) isn't on the injury report for Sunday's game against the 76ers.
Theis received medical attention after suffering what appeared to be a minor knee injury during Friday's win over Portland, but the issue won't force him to miss any additional time. Look for him to serve as the primary backup to Ivica Zubac on Sunday while he faces no competition for reserve minutes from P.J. Tucker (calf), who has been ruled out for the contest.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Fails to score Friday
Rotowire
Theis finished with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound over seven minutes during Friday's 112-104 loss to the Pelicans.
Theis failed to score in the loss, playing no more than 15 minutes for the sixth time in the past seven games. While he does provide the Clippers with a veteran piece at the center spot, it is clear his time as a consistent fantasy asset has come and gone. There is no reason to roster him, even in deeper formats.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Effective in platoon
Rotowire
Theis finished Monday's 149-144 victory over the Hawks with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), eight rebounds and two assists over 19 minutes.
Theis flirted with a double-double Monday, although his scoring performance was assisted by banking in a buzzer-beating three at the end of the third quarter. Theis and Mason Plumlee split minutes at center Monday, but Ivica Zubac (rest/calf) did not play, so the frontcourt rotation will be squeezed tighter if Zubac returns to action Wednesday against New Orleans.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Efficient performance Saturday
Rotowire
Theis chipped in 18 points (8-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal over 26 minutes during Saturday's 115-96 win over the Celtics.
Theis had his best performance in quite some time, filling the boxscore as the Clippers destroyed the Celtics. Despite the fact the Clippers are without Ivica Zubac (calf), Theis has typically been used as a backup option behind Mason Plumlee. While this was an encouraging effort, it is not enough to make him a long-term asset in standard leagues.

Clippers' Daniel Theis: Off injury report
Rotowire
Theis (illness) is no longer listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Theis missed Friday's game due to an illness but he will be available Monday. With Mason Plumlee out due to a knee injury, Theis should get a respectable workload as a backup to Ivica Zubac.
