  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Records six assists

Theis logged four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), eight rebounds and six assists over 37 minutes during Monday's 123-119 overtime victory over the Jazz. Theis matched his season-best mark of six assists as he made his second start in a row. He's been a serviceable short-term streamer for the Pelicans, but all that could come to an end once Yves Missi (shoulder) and Zion Williamson (illness) are healthy again.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Fills in admirably Friday

Theis recorded 18 points (6-9 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in 28 minutes during Friday's 136-123 win over the Jazz. Making his first start for the Pelicans since Nov. 25, Theis made an immediate impact in his return to the first unit with his highest scoring output of the year in a season-high 28 minutes. Having now played eight games as a starter, the veteran big man has averaged 6.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks in 17.9 minutes as a member of New Orleans' starting lineup. With starting center Yves Missi (illness) presumably just day-to-day, Theis doesn't appear to be the most appealing cursory pickup in fantasy leagues despite Friday's outburst.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Starting vs. Utah

Theis is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Jazz. The Pelicans will be without Yves Missi on Friday due to an illness, so Theis will have a golden chance to make a good impression in this matchup. He's averaging 4.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in his seven starts this season, so he's not expected to affect many fantasy decisions even with the change in role.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Backup role continues Wednesday

Theis closed with two points (1-4 FG), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 119-116 win over the Mavericks. Theis continues to play limited minutes behind Yves Missi, having now played fewer than 20 minutes in eight of the past 10 games. Now on the wrong side of 30, it's hard to envisage Theis stepping into a larger role, at least not on a consistent basis. He should be able to provide the Pelicans with a semi-reliable veteran piece, something they need desperately given the season they are going though.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Fails to score in loss

Theis closed Wednesday's 119-108 loss to the Heat with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 18 minutes. Theis continued to play a limited role off the bench behind impressive rookie Yves Missi. Theis has scored in double-digits just once this season, averaging a very modest 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Double-doubles Friday

Theis provided 11 points (3-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 21 minutes during Friday's 132-124 loss to the Grizzlies. Theis recorded his first double-double of the season, logging a few extra minutes after Yves Missi was forced to the locker room for a brief period of time. After starting the first five games of the season, Theis has seen his role reduce over the course of the campaign. Over the past month, he has averaged just 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game. Based on what we have seen recently, this performance should be viewed as nothing more than an outlier.

Theis won't play in Saturday's game versus the Knicks while returning to competitive conditioning. • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Questionable to play Saturday

Theis (personal) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Knicks. Theis did not play against the Rockets on Thursday while attending to a personal matter. Trey Jemison and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl would be slated to see increased minutes off the bench behind starting center Yves Missi if Theis is unable to play Saturday.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Unavailable Thursday

Theis won't play in Thursday's game against the Rockets for personal reasons. Theis won't suit up for Thursday's game as he tends to personal issues. Theis (neck) isn't listed on the Pelicans' injury report for Thursday's game against the Kings. Theis has missed three straight games due to neck spasms, but he appears to be over the issue. Theis (neck) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports. Theis will be sidelined for a second straight game due to neck spasms, and he could be in jeopardy of missing a third on the second leg of the Pelicans' back-to-back against the Spurs on Sunday. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl will be New Orleans' main backup center to Yves Missi on Saturday, though Trey Jemison could also see some playing time due to Theis' injury.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Won't play Thursday

Theis is out for Thursday's game versus the Suns due to neck spasms, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports. Theis had appeared in each of the Pelicans' last six games, but his absence Thursday could open up more time for Jeremiah Robinson-Earl or Trey Jemison at the backup center spot behind starter Yves Missi. Theis' next chance to suit up will come Saturday versus the Thunder.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Poor season continues

Theis totaled three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal across 13 minutes during Monday's 124-112 loss to the Hawks. Theis continues to be a non-factor, as he's scored in single digits in every game this season. After starting the first five games, his role has shifted to that of a backup. In 17 games he is averaging just 3.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. It is clear that Theis simply isn't the player he once was.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Not starting Wednesday

Theis is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. Theis will head back to the bench after two straight starts, as Yves Missi will recover his role in the starting lineup. Theis is averaging a mere 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game when coming off the bench this season, so he shouldn't have a lot of fantasy appeal in most formats.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Sticking in starting lineup

Yves Missi (shoulder) has been cleared to play after missing the Pelicans' last game, but Theis will stick in the starting lineup for a second straight game.
