  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Another absence coming

Brown (ankle) will miss Thursday's preseason game against Philadelphia, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Brown also missed Tuesday's preseason opener against Charlotte and has been working his way back into basketball activities after suffering the injury during training camp. Brooklyn has been cautious with the rookie guard's recovery, and he remains without a firm timetable for his preseason debut.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Progressing in recovery

Brown (ankle) has progressed to taking some contact in practice and said Sunday that he's "starting to get to full speed," Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Brown rolled his ankle a couple of weeks ago but is ramping up ahead of the preseason. It wouldn't be surprising if the Nets proceed with caution ahead of the regular season, though the rookie guard's first opportunity to suit up in the preseason will come Tuesday against Charlotte.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Not yet cleared for contact

Brown (ankle) hasn't been cleared to practice with contact and remains without a timetable for a return, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. Brown suffered an ankle injury before the start of training camp, and while he's been able to get back on the court in a limited capacity, the team is taking a cautious approach to his rehab. "Yeah, as of right now they're just telling me you could get back to moving a little bit, really just trying to get the strengthening it back up," said Brown on Thursday. "I mean, I am back on the court moving. That's all I'm really worried about right now. I'm just taking it one step at a time." It remains to be seen whether Brown will be cleared in time to play in the preseason.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Ready for rookie year

Brown (rest) is primed for a significant role ahead of his rookie season in 2026-27. The Nets chose Brown with the No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft, so they likely have big plans in mind for the 20-year-old guard right away in 2026-27. Brown, who averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 three-pointers per game over four Summer League appearances, is lined up to share Brooklyn's starting backcourt with Egor Demin.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Resting Sunday

Brown (rest) has been ruled out for Sunday's Summer League game against the Thunder, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports. Brown will take a seat for Brooklyn's Summer League finale. The rookie No. 6 overall pick appeared in three Las Vegas Summer League games, averaging 16.7 points, 4.0 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 22.5 minutes per contest.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Rough shooting performance Thursday

Brown finished with 14 points (3-15 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 27 minutes in Thursday's 100-83 Summer League loss to Houston. Brown recorded his lowest-scoring total in three Las Vegas Summer League appearances. He also shot less than 50.0 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from deep for the first time during that stretch. Still, it's been a mostly positive summer for the 20-year-old rookie. Although Brown is expected to have his share of struggles during his inaugural campaign, he should still receive more than enough opportunities to produce right away.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Contributes 16 points in return

Brown (rest) logged 16 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block over 19 minutes in Tuesday's 115-83 Summer League win over the Kings. Brown was held out of Saturday's game against the Hawks due to rest purposes but was back in action Tuesday, when he finished second on the Nets in assists and as the team's third-leading scorer behind Egor Demin (22 points) and Drake Powell (18 points). Brown was the sixth-overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft, but his playing time could be inconsistent in his rookie season given the number of young guards on the Nets' roster such as Demin, Powell, Ben Saraf and Nolan Traore, as well as fifth-year pro Keon Ellis.

The rookie's next chance to suit up will come Tuesday against Sacramento.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Expected to play Monday

Brown (undisclosed) is expected to play in Monday's California Classic Summer League game against Warriors Blue, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. It's unknown why Brown won't see action in Brooklyn's first two California Classic Summer League contests, though it appears he is set to play Monday. The 2026 No. 6 overall pick appeared in 21 games for Louisville during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 18.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 0.1 blocks and 1.2 steals across 29.2 minutes per showing. Brown is in line for a prominent role with the Nets right out of the gate regardless of his spot on the depth chart.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Taken by Brooklyn at No. 6

Brown was selected by the Nets with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Brown profiles as a lead guard but can play off the ball and has plenty of upside for the rebuilding Nets to be excited about. The 20-year-old appeared in just 21 games (19 starts) for Louisville in 2025-26 due to a lingering back injury, finishing the season with averages of 18.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 41.0 percent from the field in 29.2 minutes per game. He has a strong opportunity to carve out a significant role in his rookie campaign, though Brooklyn has plenty of young guards, including Egor Demin (foot), Nolan Traore (illness) and Ben Saraf.
