Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is traveling to New York from Florida on Tuesday and will spend considerable time with team doctors and officials on Wednesday. The team will assess his ability to play at some point and how his wounded right hand is recovering. Team doctors will also evaluate potential devices or an apparatus that might aid his return.
The Giants remain open-minded that Pierre-Paul could perhaps rejoin them in the second half of the season and, after his first meeting with them before the season, the sides determined to meet again in late October. During the initial meeting it was clear to the team that the pass rusher was not ready to play and would be vulnerable to opponents, but they were encouraged by the strides he was making.
A contract is not expected to be a significant hurdle once the the team clears Pierre-Paul for a return, and much more will be known about the possibility by Wednesday night.
