LOOK: Tom Brady fixed his ping-pong paddle, wants a rematch with Amendola
The Patriots quarterback responds to his receiver's story about a ping-pong battle three years ago
Tom Brady probably figured he was in the clear. Three years had passed since his ping-pong incident with Danny Amendola, and the story still remained buried in Foxborough, along with the Patriots' other dark secrets.
Amendola, though, spoiled that on Tuesday. During an interview with ESPN, the Patriots receiver told a story about Brady's competitiveness. That story involved Brady breaking a ping-pong paddle after losing to Amendola:
"He's so competitive ... I remember one story: It was my first week in the building and he wanted to play some ping pong. I didn't really know how to go about it. I knew I was better than him, I didn't want to beat him too bad because I wanted him to throw me the ball ... I knew I was better. Needless to say, his competitive nature unleashed a broken paddle by the end of it. It's the reason why we love him and the reason why he's the best quarterback."
It took Brady less than 24 hours to respond. He fixed his paddle and he wants a rematch.
My money's on Amendola. He seemed incredibly confident in his ping-pong ability when he told that story. He also knew he'd beat Brady before he even faced him. Even though Amendola's coming off multiple offseason surgeries, he's the better player, based on folklore.
With that being said, never count out Touchdown Tom.
