The mother of the man murdered by former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is embarking on a lawsuit against him, according to The Associated Press, which is further reporting that her attorney is seeking to figure out how much money Hernandez has and where it is. When he murdered Odin Lloyd in June 2013, he had a $40 million contract with the team.

Lawyer Douglass Sheff stated during a press conference that he plans to call Hernandez to testify when the case goes to trial despite the fact that it could be years away. He added that Ursula Ward, the mother of the slain Lloyd, wants to look Hernandez in the eye when he testifies, which he did not do at his criminal trial.

"She wants to ask what happened," Sheff said. "Very simple: 'What happened?' And the next question: Why?'" Sheff called Lloyd's death an unthinkable loss.

Hernandez was convicted April 15 of first-degree murder.
