Broncos linebacker Von Miller's four-game suspension may not be the result of a failed drug test, according to a USA TODAY report. Those close to Miller have said the suspension is related to something other than a failed drug test, though no more details have been made available, as the NFL does not officially announce suspensions until the appeal process ends.

The USA TODAY report also confirms that Miller failed a drug test for marijuana in his rookie season, placing him in the league's drug offender program. According to league policy, a suspension can be triggered by a failure to comply with testing policies, not just by a failed test.

Miller has filed his appeal with the league and hopes to have it heard before the season begins. He says he has matured since getting into trouble when he entered the league.

"The guy I was two, three, four years ago is not the guy I am," Miller said.
