Robert Griffin III: My marriage failed but there was no homewrecking or cheating
The Browns quarterback took to Twitter to discuss his personal life
Controversy seems to find Robert Griffin III. The 2012 No. 2 overall pick had a stellar rookie season, helping the Redskins to seven straight wins, the division title and the playoffs, but his career has been in asymptotic decline since. And as often happens to celebrities in all walks of life, their personal life -- fair or not -- becomes as much a part of the story as their professional accomplishments.
That explains why Griffin's impending divorce -- and the news that he already appears to have his new girlfriend's name tattooed on his arm -- became a story. In fact, in August, TMZ.com suggested RG3's wife was blindsided by the development, though they backed off the claim a day later.
In the weeks that followed, former Redskins greats Joe Theismann and Darrell Green separately ripped Griffin. And on Saturday, RG3 took to Twitter to set the record straight:
In this world everybody wanna know but not many really care

Set the record straight. My marriage failed. No home wrecking/cheating. So stop coming at my girl and my daughter with that nonsense. Thanks

Griffin signed with the Browns in the offseason, won the job in training camp ... and lasted less than one full game before a shoulder injury put him on the shelf for the foreseeable future. But he remains upbeat despite some pretty terrible football and the seemingly insurmountable odds facing Cleveland's professional football team.
Now professionally it's been a blessing to put in that work all week with the squad. Let's go get a win tomorrow fellas!!! @Browns
