  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Won't play vs. Kansas City

Hicks (foot) did not participate at practice Friday and is listed as out for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Hicks will sit out for a second consecutive week after he sustained a plantar fascia tear in his foot Week 2 at New Orleans. The Pro Bowler will likely need to participate in practice in some capacity next week if he's going to be able to play Week 5 versus Atlanta, and for now Rakeem Nunez-Roches will continue to eat up the majority of the fill-in reps.

  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Sits out Wednesday

Hicks (foot) did not participate during the Buccaneers' practice Wednesday. Hicks missed Sunday's loss to the Packers due to a torn plantar fascia in his foot, which is expected to keep him sidelined over the next three games as well. In the 32-year-old's absence, veterans Rakeem Nunez-Roches and William Gholston both saw increased usage in Week 3, playing 57 percent and 55 percent of Tampa Bay's defensive snaps, respectively. Unless Hicks is available to return, the Buccaneers likely will continue to lean on these two and rookie Logan Hall (groin) in Week 4 versus Kansas City.

  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Officially ruled out

Hicks (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers. As expected, Hicks won't play in Week 3 after being diagnosed with a torn plantar fascia in his foot. The veteran defensive tackle is expected to miss at least four games, but the Buccaneers won't immediately place him on injured reserve. In his absence, rookie second-round pick Logan Hall is a candidate for increased snaps along Tampa Bay's defensive line.

  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Likely to miss time

Hicks could miss up to four weeks with a plantar fascia tear in his foot, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Hicks left Sunday's win over the Saints early with the injury. It already was reported Tuesday that he'd be out for Week 3 against the Packers, but the 32-year-old's absence may extend beyond just this week. Hicks' inability to play likely will lead to extra opportunity for 2022 second-round selection Logan Hall.

  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Won't play vs. Packers

Coach Todd Bowles said Tuesday that Hicks (foot) won't play Sunday versus Green Bay, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Hicks was held out of the second half of Sunday's contest at New Orleans after sustaining a foot injury, and he'll now be forced to miss at least Week 3. The Packers should find it slightly easier to run the ball against his replacement on the defensive line, Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

  • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Won't return Sunday

Hicks (foot) was downgraded to out for the remainder of Sunday's game against New Orleans, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. • Buccaneers' Akiem Hicks: Hurts foot Sunday

Hicks (foot) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Saints, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Hicks appeared to pick up an unspecified foot injury at some point during the first half versus New Orleans. With the defensive tackle sidelined for the time being, Patrick O'Connor and Logan Hall should see increased usage on the interior of Tampa Bay's defensive line.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Unavailable for practice

Hicks (ankle) was unavailable for Wednesday's practice. The defensive tackle did not practice Wednesday while nursing an ankle injury, causing him to be placed on the injury report. Hicks returned to the lineup in Week 17 after missing the prior week while on the COVID list, and made two tackles. His availability Sunday will become clearer as the week goes on.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Removed from COVID-19 list

Hicks (undisclosed) was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Hicks returned from a four-game absence due to an ankle injury to register two sacks against the Vikings in Week 15. However, the veteran defensive end was sidelined the following week due to the NFL's COVID-19 protocols. He will look to get back on track against the Giants in Week 17.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Notches two sacks

Hicks posted two sacks and five tackles overall in the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Vikings on Monday. After missing the last four games with an ankle injury, Hicks easily had his best performance of the season, not only posting his highest tackle total of the year, but also more than doubling the 1.5 sacks he came into the game with. Due to the weak performances he's had during most of the season, he'll be a risky option in the fantasy playoffs.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Out Sunday

Hicks (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Packers, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. Hicks logged a full practice Friday, but he's still not ready to return and will miss his fourth straight game. He'll try to return in Week 15 against the Vikings, but Angelo Blackson will likely take on the majority of the snaps on the edge Sunday against the divisional foe Packers.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Limited practice Wednesday

Hicks (groin) practiced in a limited capacity for the Bears on Wednesday. The 32-year-old has been dealing with the injury for almost a month now, playing in only one game since Week 4. After missing last week's game against the Buccaneers, a practice to open the week is a good sign for his availability versus the 49ers in Week 8. If he still can't return Sunday, Angelo Blackson will handle an increased workload once again.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Questionable after limited session

Hicks (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay. Hicks was a limited participant Friday, which is an encouraging sign after he was unable to practice Wednesday nor Thursday. Then again, he followed the same pattern last week and ultimately sat out due to this same injury. His status will likely come down to a game-time decision.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Doubtful for Week 5

Hicks (groin) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Hicks gave himself a glimmer of hope by upgrading to limited participation in Friday's practice after sitting out the previous two days. Nonetheless, he's not expected to take the field come Sunday due to the groin injury Hicks sustained against the Lions in Week 4. Angelo Blackson filled in for Hicks after he was injured against Detroit and will likely continue to do so in Vegas.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Questionable to return Sunday

Hicks (groin) is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Lions, Adam Hoge of NBC Sports Chicago reports. Hicks has registered at least three tackles in each game this season and is a key piece to the Bears defense. If he is unable to return, Angelo Blackson will likely play a large role for the remainder of the contest.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Records half a sack

Hicks posted three tackles and half a sack in the Bears' 34-14 loss to the Rams on Sunday. Hicks played 77 percent of the team's snaps, as he was the Bears' defensive lineman with the most playing time in this game. However, with the Rams having solid pass protection while throwing the ball just 26 times, there weren't many opportunities to rush the passer. In his age-31 season, Hicks' role puts him in position to replicate the 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks he posted in 2020.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Dealing with foot soreness

Hicks missed practice Thursday due to foot soreness but is expected to return soon, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports. Coach Matt Nagy wasn't concerned with Hicks' injury and said he expects him to practice Friday. Even if the hulking defensive lineman isn't ready to return Friday, his absence isn't expected to linger for long.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Ends regular season with 3.5 sacks

Hicks posted two tackles in Chicago's 35-16 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Hicks recorded 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks in his fifth season with the Bears. Although his tackle totals were similar to the numbers he posted in his other healthy seasons, his sack numbers dropped dramatically in his age-30 season. He's signed with the team through the 2021 season, and unless he can return to the form he showed a few years ago, he'll be considered an inconsistent fantasy option with a limited ceiling.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Upgraded Thursday

Hicks (hamstring) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice. Hicks failed to suit up in practice Wednesday after missing last week's game, so it's a good sign that he was able to practice in some capacity. Hicks is trending in the right direction for Sunday's contest against the Lions, but if he's forced to miss another game, Mario Edwards and Brent Urban would be in line for the bulk of the Week 13 snaps at defensive end.

  • Bears' Akiem Hicks: Considered questionable

Hicks (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Packers. Hicks was unable to practice all week, so his questionable designation is seemingly a little optimistic. Still, his final status will be determined by how he is feeling closer to kickoff. If he is ultimately unable to go, look for Brent Urban to replace him at defensive end.
