  • Jack Cichy: Retires from NFL

Cichy (arm) retired from the NFL on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Cichy spent all four of his professional seasons with Tampa Bay, but he failed to make an appearance last season after playing in at least four games in each of his first three campaign. The Wisconsin product's NFL career was spoiled by injuries, most recently a broken arm during the 2021 campaign. The 2018 sixth-round pick finished his career with seven tackles across 16 appearances while mostly operating on special teams.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: Bad injury luck continues

Cichy (elbow) will not return to Sunday's NFC divisional-round matchup against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Cichy tore his ACL back in 2018, and a number of injuries have limited him to just 10 appearances in two seasons since then. An injury sustained while covering a punt in the first quarter will now force the 24-year-old to miss the remainder of Sunday's playoff match.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: Trending in right direction

The Buccaneers designated Cichy (hamstring) for a return from injured reserve Wednesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Cichy has resided on IR since Oct. 12 when he suffered the hamstring injury in Week 5's loss to the Bears. The team will now have 21 days to activate the Wisconsin product, but, until then, Chapelle Russell and Kevin Minter will continue to handle the depth inside linebacker snaps.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: Designated for IR

The Buccaneers placed Cichy (hamstring) on injured reserve Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Cichy won't be eligible to return until Week 9 against the Saints, but the team believes he has a good chance to be activated by then. The Wisconsin product has battled with injuries since being drafted in 2018, missing a combined 22 games over the previous two campaigns. He's played strictly on special teams this season.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: Won't play versus Titans

Cichy (elbow) is not expected to play against the Titans on Sunday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Cichy was unable to fully recover from his dislocated elbow during Tampa Bay's bye. The 23-year-old special-teams ace will target a return Week 9 versus Seattle.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: May miss multiple weeks

Cichy could miss 2-to-4 weeks with an elbow injury suffered during Sunday's 55-40 win over the Rams, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Cichy is receiving an MRI on his elbow Monday, so more information about his injury could be on tap. If the initial diagnosis is correct, the second-year linebacker will miss at least the next two games. Cichy plays a key role on special teams for the Buccaneers.

  • Buccaneers' Jack Cichy: Practicing without brace

Cichy (knee) practiced in pads and without his knee brace for the first time Wednesday, Carmen Vitali of the team's official site reports. The rookie underwent ACL surgery in September 2017, but the Bucs still opted to take a chance on him in the sixth round last April. Head coach Dirk Koetter has praised Cichy's play over the first few days of camp, and the coaching staff views the Wisconsin product as capable of contributing as both a reserve linebacker and special teams asset in 2018.
