  • Darryl Johnson: Tries out with Pittsburgh

Johnson (undisclosed) tried out with the Steelers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Johnson has seemingly recovered from an undisclosed injury that led to his release from San Francisco's injured reserve in August. The 26-year-old logged just one tackle in three games for Detroit last season and will look to catch on with the Steelers.

  • Darryl Johnson: Released from IR with settlement

The 49ers released Johnson (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Johnson was slated to miss the entire 2023 campaign after landing on injured reserve at the beginning of August, but he's now free to sign a new contract once he can pass a physical. The 2019 seventh-round pick suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 4 last year, but it's unclear if that issue is related to his current injury.

  • Seahawks' Darryl Johnson: Placed on IR

Johnson (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports. Johnson suffered a serious injury against the Lions on Sunday, which coach Pete Carroll termed a stress fracture. He'll now be forced to miss Seattle's next four games, making him first eligible to return in Week 9 against Arizona. Johnson served primarily on special teams but was also a situational pass rusher for the Seahawks' defensive unit prior to going down.

  • Seahawks' Darryl Johnson: Suffers significant injury

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Johnson (ankle) suffered a serious injury and is going to miss some time, Liz Mathews of USA Today reports. Carroll noted that he doesn't know the specifics of Johnson's injury, but the head coach added, "I do think it's a stress fracture kind of thing that he is dealing with. That's somewhat of a significant injury." The linebacker was claimed off waivers by Seattle when Shelby Harris was sidelined with a lower-body injury and garnered a solid depth role, but it appears like he'll be sidelined for a few weeks and may even end up on IR.

  • Panthers' Darryl Johnson: Placed on COVID-19 list

The Panthers placed Johnson (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Johnson was activated to the Panthers' 53-man roster in early December but hasn't appeared in any games since then. It's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for COVID-19, but his status shouldn't significantly impact the Panthers' defensive rotation.

  • Panthers' Darryl Johnson: Returns to active roster

Johnson (hamstring) was activated to the 53-man roster Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Johnson was designated to return from IR on Nov. 17, so the Panthers used every bit of their 21-day window to get him activated. Johnson hasn't suited up since Week 4, but he'll look to Sunday's game against the Falcons where he'll likely serve as a rotational piece along the Panthers' defensive line.

  • Panthers' Darryl Johnson: Heads to IR

Johnson (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Johnson was already set to miss his third straight game with the issue. He's only played 10 snaps all season, so the Panthers will make do with their other depth options on their defensive line.

  • Bills' Darryl Johnson: Listed as questionable

Johnson (knee) is questionable for Saturday's divisional-round game against the Ravens. Johnson didn't practice in any capacity this week, so his availability for Saturday's AFC divisional-round matchup appears truly murky. A.J. Epenesa and Trent Murphy could be tabbed for increased rotational roles if Johnson is unable to play.
