  • Bears' Elijah Lee: Heads toward free agency

Lee didn't post a tackle in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18 and ended the season with two tackles over two games played. After playing seven defensive snaps in Week 1, Lee spent the rest of the season solely on special teams. He'll look to latch onto a team as a depth player as an unrestricted free agent.

  • Elijah Lee: Let go by Kansas City

Lee was released by the Chiefs on Tuesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Lee had been active for all three games this season, mostly contributing on special teams. The 26-year-old joined Kansas City on a one-year deal in March after spending the 2021 campaign with the Browns.

  • Elijah Lee: Let go by Browns

  • Browns' Elijah Lee: Plucked off waivers

The Browns claimed Lee off waivers from the Lions on Friday, Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com reports. Lee isn't expected to join the Browns until after the team's Week 9 bye due to COVID-19 protocols. The fourth-year pro out of Kansas State will add depth at linebacker and is expected to mainly contribute on special teams.

  • 49ers' Elijah Lee: Joins active roster

Lee was promoted to the 49ers' active roster Tuesday. Lee makes the jump from the practice squad after the team lost Kwon Alexander for the year due to a torn pectoral. The 23-year-old will provide depth behind Dre Greenlaw at weakside linebacker.

  • 49ers' Elijah Lee: Signs tender with 49ers

Lee signed an exclusive rights tender with San Francisco on Thursday. Lee came on strong in his second season with the 49ers in 2018, totaling 65 tackles and two passes defensed across 16 outings. He'll look to continue his strong play as a backup linebacker in 2019.

  • 49ers' Elijah Lee: Performs well in start

Lee started at weak-side linebacker and recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 26-23 victory over Seattle. With the 49ers out of contention, Lee was given the start alongside Fred Warner over veteran Malcolm Smith for the second straight week. The 22-year-old performed well, reaching double-digit tackles for the second time this season. Lee has shown a nose for the ball when called upon, recording 33 tackles and a sack in the four games he has logged over 50 percent of the club's defensive snaps. Following this strong performance, there is no reason to think the youngster won't earn another start against the Bears in Week 16.
